Anyone get buyers' remorse over their trim choice? (1.5T vs 2.0L)

I’ve got a ‘18 Sport Hatch 1.5 CVT. I wish I had the upgraded infotainment system, a few more bells and whistles and smaller wheels ( the 18’s with low-pro tires are killing the ride - where I live the roads are in horrible shape from last winter still) but overall I’m happy- as said above - no matter what you get there’s always a trim level or another vehicle that’s you think just a little bit better than what you’ve got - enjoy your ride !!

I bought an ex-l orchid and was never quite happy but not unhappy. I sported it up a bit. Then the dealership had a huge inventory blowout - 224 civics alone- to make room for 2019’s and I got a fantastic deal and traded my 5.5 month old ex-l for rallye red - my fave color- touring and am happy. Love the led ‘s, the upgraded stereo, sensing and the other stuff. Still need to add some spoilers etc lol ( we all have diff tastes) but I wouldn’t have done it without the great deal.

The Black is a lot of work, but damn it looks beautiful.. lol.. I am glad I chose the Ex because I'm getting like 44mpg on the fwy.. I do find myself looking long fully at the Turbos at the stop light.. overall I love my Civic..

I chose the Si sedan. There were times were I wished that I chose the coupe. But in the end the sedan for me was the best pick. More practical. Other times I found myself thinking why did I not get the Sport Touring. But overall I'm very happy with my Si. It's got everything that I need without much compromise.

What was the process for this like? I’m iffy on my non turbo civic and was considering this but didn’t know what it would be like. I’ve leased my two previous cars but bought this one.

Unless you have a ton of equity in the car, the chances are you'll get killed in a trade by the dealer. But not everyone is in the same $$ situation. What may seem like a big hit to you might be nothing to someone else.

I get bored with cars, and trade way too often. I kept a '13 Challenger for over 4 years... and that's the longest I've ever had a vehicle in 40 years of driving. The Civic is the first time I haven't looked back and wondered if I made a mistake.

I had put 13k down on the car and only owed 9k ( I had been saving for when I would need a car) so that did help. I did it slowly over the course of July and August. I went back and forth between a few dealers and got each one to lower their car price and raise their trade in price based off the others dealers quotes. Then when the 2019 models were announced two dealers had a LOT of inventory so I went one last time to try and said to myself if I didn’t get what I was hoping for I’d stay with what I had as it is still a great car- absolutely true- and I did get my price ( top end of willing to take but it fell in my parameters) and was happy and traded.

I did eat a little bit of money however I’d had to buy very fast- due to my car being totaled buy a girl going through a stop sign taking selfies with her friends- and I knew I loved the look of the 10th gen civic but hadn’t researched the models within the models within the models lol. The civic has a TON ( sedan, coupe, Si sedan,Si coupe, hatchback, hatchback sport) to choose from and I hadnt had time to research models and the options within the models ( led headlights, stereo being 180 vs 450 watts w/subwoofer, Navi, sensing, auto rain wipers, color I truly wanted, etc..) as carefully as I should have and regretted it.

Anyhow I’d told my other half I wished I’d leased for a bit and researched and drove more models since I was under pressure to buy so fast so I just chalk my 1.5k -2k or so I ate up to leasing my ex-l for a half a year. In hindsight I’m glad I didn’t lease a whole year as I like the front end of the 2018 better than the 2019 but that’s just me personally.

I went with the '16 2 L NA with CVT as the only "option". I'm so glad I did, and would do it again. Absolutely NO buyers remorse. I paid $thousands less, and avoided the issues with : infotainment, rain sensing, etc. I do cars in the very long term, and don't trust a complicated turbo system in this regard. I know, no significant complaints yet for this turbo, but this isn't yet the very long term. Oh yeah, got a real volume KNOB, to the delight of me and passengers, who don't have to ask me or mess with some dumb touch screen.

If I was 30 years older, the 2.0 CVT would be the obvious choice. But because I am not 80 yet and still have some pep in my step, I prefer my car to have some as well.

Don't get me wrong, any Civic with any powertrain is an excellent choice but the 1.5T is a much livelier and entertaining ride.

Yes, it may cost more but is worth every pretty penny over the NA powertrain. I'm sure other 1.5T owners would agree.

I am the type to change vehicles every 2 or 3 years but I just can't see myself parting with this one. It is an unbelievably fantastic vehicle from mileage to handling, style, comfort, and especially power and driveability with the help of Ktuner.

I have had zero issues with the infotainment system or being able to adjust volume.Yes, if I was to nitpick, the rain sensing wipers are not ideal and the horn absolutely sucks but to think I would downgrade to a base model to avoid that is ludicrous.

Everyone has their preferences. As long as we treat each other with respect and kindness it makes things fun and interesting. The civic has lots of options and a good number of styles/ models to choose from which is great. Something for everyone.

Zatannaz, I am not sure what you are referring to, there is very little incivility takes place on this forum. A small amount of disagreement is totally normal. There are some "name callers" but those can be put on the ignore list. Once you do that, this forum seems very civil.

I totally agree with Marauderguy the 1.5T is a blast.

I had just been reading a thread where people called each other whiners and cry babies and another where someone proudly posted pics of his mods and some people told him it was nasty or ugly etc...so I guess reaction to it spilled over into my reply and I didn’t even realize it.

You implying that only 80 year old people buy the 2.0l and that it's a dead engine? You realize that the 2.0L with eco mode turned off has a noticeable takeoff from a stop and still has solid acceleration, and sport shift has plenty of that "push-you-into-your-seat" effect right? Many people chose the 2.0L because it made more sense to them while still being a great engine overall.

The purpose of the thread was to get discussion from people who had to make a hard choice on their trim choice, not to crap on others decisions on their trim choice. Did you read the original post?
