Man, I'm sorry you were stuck in that crud. As an ex-motorcyclist, I'm super paranoid of being rear-ended, even in a car. Glad you, and everyone else, is a-ok.

And I totally don't mean to make light of your plight but...

$500 dollar ticket for wreck less driving
If only it was wreck less. :hide:

I've been thinking about getting a dash cam for a while now.
This is a great example showing why a dash cam makes a lot of sense.
It does make sense. But now I want to get a rear facing one also (I'm installing my forward facing one tomorrow). Although I may just freshen up my GoPro and suction mount it on the rear glass as a stopgap.

 glad you're ok. as a former motorcyclist this was always my worst fear. dash cam footage was brutal to watch.
personally it doesn't really depend on the damage amount but the type of damage.
our daily drivers have been through a few rear end accidents and we are ok driving them after. gl!

Fellow Albertan feeling your pain...

Brutal to see your car get crunched up the way it did. Hope you’re ok. If no frame damage and all genuine parts and repairs are done right then probably no big deal. Looks like crash occurred in Edmonton? Lots of retard drivers in Alberta and the so called distracted driving laws that were introduced years back does nothing to stop any distracted driving.

Yes this happened in Edmonton on Wayne Gretsky Drive on a Sunday afternoon. I am supposed to get the car back this week. I will post pics as soon as I can. Go Honda has been fixing my car for 2 months now. Thank you all for your input.

I am gonna go install my rear dash cam now - I have been procrastinating for 8 months now, lol. Good thing you had it. I have a front-facing one, but that wouldn't have captured the evidence as well.

I don't know how auto insurance works in Canada, but I would definitely seek to get a payment for a diminution in value (i.e., a reduction in the fair value of your car due to the accident, above and beyond the actual cost to repair). Sue the responsible party if the insurance doesn't cover. I imagine you have a small claims court of some sort. I suspect that you will have a tough time selling the car at a decent price, as a trade-in or in a private party sale. I had this happen to me long time ago, and I had to get rid of my car at a substantial discount because it had been in an accident - and no one wants to buy such a car unless there is a crazy discount on it.

I am pretty sure the repair would be done well, and that you would never guess that the car has been damaged from just looking at it. However, driving it might be a different story -- if the car has sustained frame damage (or even lesser, but substantial damage), often times your car would never drive the same. You would be reminded all the time that your car is not the same any more. That's the worst feeling if you love your car. Drive it around and see how you feel.

I'm glad you are alright, though.

Damn man that sucks. Not only color matching, paint quality. Orange peel, blurry shit, not enough clear, overspray or underspray. Body shops have a shit time with the flex material of bumpers.
