So I see many people doing these generic tunes and what not. Is there any reason (other than being easier to flash back) why people aren't just getting tunes that are done on a dyno? I am not new to boosted rigs as I run a 91 CRX Si (the C-Rex) with JDM B16a, Garrett turbo, Tial blowoff and wastegate all custom tubing welded etc, no kit that made over 260 on only 8 psi (now running 10) on a completely stock block. But that car is a different story.

So school me please. I am picking up my 2 door 2018 Si tomorrow. Will be nice not having to commute in a purpose built street/track car haha....or my Hemi Commander that costs me $400 a month in fuel alone. I do have one of the best tuners around in my neck of the woods, so I would rather have him do a custom tune that is perfectly suited for exactly my conditions. What about one of these Ktuner things with multiple slots? Can my shop input the stock tune into that and then his custom tunes in the other slots so I can swap it when I need to take it in for services?

At this point, there are few qualified and well trusted dyno tuners in the tenth gen community. We've seen more than one person go to their local guy and get burned, one way or another. Custom tuning certainly has it's place, but if you are lightly modified, you can get a great majority of the benefits of a custom tune at a fraction of the price with a "canned" stage tune.

Going back to factory settings is easy to do with Ktuner, as you described.

Cool cool. It is something I will have to talk to my tuner about. If you're in Washington running boosted setups, you probably have heard of Richtuned. I would trust him to tune anything. I can't believe the 200 crank hp rating when stock, I believe I read is 20 psi boost. Are these de-tuned to accept 87 octane or something?

Cool, I will check it out. I am not a fan of high boost in low gear. That is where boost by gear helps.

Oh definitely, thanks for the heads up. I had the opposite issue on my CRX...stage 2 exedy clutch (which isn't really all that much) was too much for the cable system, and possibly the pedal assembly. So it is sitting moth balled currently until I can drive it again (injuries force me to not drive it for about year)....sadface

I just got a custom tune here in Atlanta from Jason Waters Tuning. With just a Cobra we got 228/271tq in 95 degree shop temp. stock intercooler was holding us back with 136 IAT2. Intercooler will be my next mod.

20psi almost never happens on a stock 10th gen Si. Multiple threads about it. Stock clutch holds fine when broken in well and not abused with launches, flat foot shifting, or excessively slipping gear changes.

I have both Hondata and Ktuner. I recommend ktuner. Hondata lacks features. But as a result they sell used often and cheap. Assuming you have android phone or don't mind rooting the head unit tunerview works great. IOS users. ...well they should be used to things not being supported at this point.

Two Step Performance Stage 1 tune was created by Derek at Innovative motorworks, and is well regarded as one of the best OTS/canned tunes. He offers remote tuning as well via emailed datalog and calibration files. I have run that tune on both Hondata and Ktuner.

My hondata is being used on a friends car. The ktuner is in my car. Welcome to the forum and good luck. Also check the links in my signature.

Brand New Civiic Si owner here. I have a question. Would you be able to hide the fact that you used a flashed ecu on a 10th gen civic if you purchased a secondhand ECU for the car, flashed the 2nd hand ECU and pulled the original one out and put it aside? Thus running the car on the 2nd hand flashed ECU and not the original ECU that came in the car. WOuld this help in any way?

Dude just start a new thread asking this question instead of posting it over and over in other poster's threads...

Let us know when you find someone who can clone the ECU and give you a legally binding promise the solution is foolproof.

If you are going to mod, you assume the risk. If you do not want risk, do not mod.
