So before I made this post I've been doing quite a bit of reading through these forums. Seems to be for the vast majority a very supportive and interactive forum with a lot of active members. I look forward to any tips and tricks I can learn. (Prepare for a read, you've been warned, but I'm very eager to learn) Before I got my 17' Sport CVT model I had an 07' Si, which was totaled from a Jeep and broke my heart, 65 MPH fridge snapped my rear axle. Living in Charlotte decided to go automatic cause the local highway/ freeway system was god awful for a clutch and I frankly got sick of it.

I love the hatchback sport, tight frame, zippy engine coming from a NA VTEC. Never had a turbo so it was fun to start. Now after 2 years It's grown a little stale. Sitting at 24K miles I intend on keeping this for the foreseeable future as I begin my career as an Air Force Officer, due to Honda's track record of unrivaled reliability and aftermarket availability.

I want it to stay decently reliable as a daily while still being fun. From what I've gathered, the most logical first step in the modding process for performance is a tuner. Due to my lack of knowledge and know-how I assume the KtunerFlash V2 to be my best bet for user friendliness as well as solid base tunes.

After this it all goes out the window xD

Ideally I want my car to perform well, my main commute is freeway with little superb action and backroad pulls with fun twists. I want it to sound decent while not being very ricey. This being said I assumed for performance a cold air intake would be vital for longevity given the climate and the fact my next state Ill be in is Florida for 13 months of CSO training. After a CAI ( I was looking at 27WON CAI system ) I think Borla is who I'm looking at for as far as exhaust goes. Relatively throaty exhaust notes given its a 4 banger which I like. And obviously they have a proven track record. Then from here it was a guessing game. My biggest concern is not overburdening the seemingly very fragile CVT. From what Ive read, it shouldn't be pushed past 220 range for torque.

So given the pieces I have thought through, does this seem like a logical/ linear process for the performance gains in this vehicle? I'm open and willing for any tips and feedback on the tuning aspect. I planned on getting an open mesh grill to assist with airflow and then other minor exterior aesthetics.

My only other question is where can I find red Honda badge inserts? My local auto zone manager that I speak with frequently said I can find 651 vinyl pieces that are pre-cut for the badge, but I have had zero luck in checking amazon, eBay, or other forums. I have little desire to take out all of the necessary parts to entirely replace the badges. But if I need to for the sake of authenticity looking then Ill bite that bullet.

Thats all I can think of at the moment and I truly appreciate any who've stuck out the read through face palms and can shed any light they may have. Thanks again folks!

I guess I'll bite. Rarely I'll read through any long posts but I got some time on my hand this casual Friday. The following are just my opinions. I would get the Ktuner 1.2 over the 2.0 (display). Why? Much cheaper and you can use Tunerview app through bluetooth for display (custome your own) on your phone. As far as CAI, I pass. Besides the looks, the OEM intake is very good. The gains from top brand intakes are bare minimum. Check out Hondata YouTube video where they compare 3 intakes vs OEM.

The red honda emblem (type r) are everywhere. I got mine on Ebay (not authentic JDM but looks good, for now).

Pic below is an example of what Tunerview looks like. Much better than ktuner 2.0 display.

I appreciate the input! It is to my understanding however that there are no reliable tuner apps for iOS as I have a pesky iPhone.. In that case I feel the V2 may be more feasible as the tuner view device itself is more than the Ktuner is lol. The CAI video was very enlightening, with that being, would an intercooler overhaul be a solid option for longevity and reliability while running a tune?

I can't comment on intercooler bc I don't have one nor did I do any research on it. No future itch to get it either. I only have the Ktuner 1.2 and stock under the hood. It runs night and day as it is. Also, don't want to blow a clutch with added mods. Want longevity over zoom zoom. I am considering strut bar for slightly better corner.

I don’t personally have it but you can directly download tuner view to the head unit and run it there. No phone necessary. Look up some videos on YouTube of the tunerview on the 10th gen. It’s pretty neat.
