Walked. Tomorrow is the last day of the month. They will call and I will get what I want. The new 2019 R is inbound and there are approximately 11 dealers within 3hrs of me that are sitting on them, asking ridiculous premiums over msrp. I can wait.

We will see what happens tomorrow.

Why did you get the Sport hatch so recently if you wanted an R instead?

20k for a civic sport trade in is not bad at all. (I understand it's only a month old but we all know how cars depreciation hits)

Why did you get the Sport hatch so recently if you wanted an R instead?

Bought the Sport CVT on July 18th for the economy factor as I commute 90 miles a day and coming from a pilot touring avg 17.6mpg, it was a great decision as I average 40+ mpg now. Then I bought an Si coupe 4 days after and loved it. A few weeks ago, I was contemplating trading in the Sport for an Si sedan but I held off and resisted the temptation. Then recently I just decided I wanted a Type R and I had to decide between the Si and the Sport. I decided the Sport had to go because of the stereo and the limitations of the CVT tuning wise.

ETA: I hate the cloth on the interior too! In addition, after spending some time behind the wheel of my wife’s Accord 2.0 Touring, I was amazed by the engine.

LOL you sound grudgingly like my old man. I respect it, and have full faith that you'll get it for what you want, as you make valid points. Good luck brother!

If the deal is right, do it! I think I responded to your last thread about trading hatch on a sedan Si. You clearly do not want the CVT hatch...haha I "settled" for the Si, because timing is not right to spend $35k on a car for me.

Good job, don't let the stealership profit off of you too much

That money could be used for much better investments. A modern car will always depreciate in value. Maybe at a slower rate but nevertheless, a bad ROI. But the fun factor probably is worth it at the expense of lighting your hard earned money on fire.

True, a car is a horrible investment unless it is so unique that it will appreciate.
If you live for ROI/money ..well.. life is short.

Yep. A type r is not a financial investment but more of a quality of life investment. If you are financially stable, drive what you want!

I've thought seriously about this same kind of trade but Si for Type R. I'd be much more inclined to investigate if they made a CTR coupe. Way to have some will power and walk. I didn't have will power and I ended up with a white car.

Buying a car is no different than buying clothing, a TV, or lattes, it's just money in exchange for a product. It's not an investment whatsoever, it's an expense.
