That's too involved with the whole coil part. I want something I can just screw in and call it a day.
you'll be looking at $30 for a tank, plus another $5 per coil, and if you're like the average vaper, you will go through a coil every 5-10 days.

For that, I'd recommend the Smok Big Baby Beast with Kanthal or SS316 coils, any mod around 40-60W should be fine with that. I have one on a Fuchai 213. It's my fall back, works fine though I only use it about once a week when my wife has me replacing her cotton and is using my Geekvape Athena.

Wife uses a Fuchai squonk kit at around 45W, and manages to burn her cotton through 1-2x per week at which point I have to rewick it for her. I replace her coils about once a month. Costs $5, for a pair from Coilology which works out to around 0.22 ohm and includes plenty of cotton.

I use the Geekvape which is a mech squonk with coilology coils that work out to around 0.08 ohm, costs about $5 and coils last me about 2-3 months. To vape like I do requires knowledge and time to test. I do not recommend anyone go below 0.2 ohms for casual use. But I'm a geek, and live accordingly. :)

I don't want to "drip" anything on the cotton every 5 puffs nor attach kanthal myself.
Looking for a setup exactly like an Alien minus the leakage.

I saw the "sqonk" mod and it was too involved. Looking for something very basic where you can get up to 60w and doesn't leak.

I just got the Voopoo Drag after having to replace my piece of shit Smok Alien. I've still got the leaky baby beast tank for now, but will be getting something else once I decide what I want. I starting vaping about 6-7 months ago when I finally gave up dipping.

I started with a chinese brand (literal symbols) a buddy gave me for free to curb the habit. went from a pack a day to about half in a couple months. Bought the alien and baby beast kit and fully quit after a month using gorilla vapes ultimate vanilla custard. After the baby beast came the Wismec Reux, After the Alien mod fell apart i bought (my current) IJoy Captain PD270 and the SMOK Prince. But since the coil shortage for the prince ive been using the HorizonTech Arco 2. Each coil lasts me 3 weeks!
Been just over a year now.

3 pack a day a smoker for over 20 years. Within a couple days of vaping have gone down to about 1 pack and already feeling better! Recommend you guys check out the Aspire Breeze 2, very solid and well built device using 50% Nic salt and 1 ohm coil.

Just replaced my Baby Beast with a Tebeco tank a couple weeks ago. So far its great. I like it much better than the Smok tanks. No leaking, not issues, easier to fill the tank as well. Great flavor throughout the wattage range. On the low end you wont be a cloud chaser but youll still have great flavor. On the higher end youll have better flavor but tons of vapor (this is with the .2 coil)

That looks like way too much cotton, do you have it inside the coil too or just wrapped around?
Inside and wrapped. When just inside, can vape at 40-55 watts for a while before the cotton needs changing due to occasional scorching. With the double wicking (inside/outside) it needs 60-80w. But it's consistent and doesn't spit at all!

A dude at my regular vape shop once told me "too much cotton is where juice goes to die" after I asked him for some troubleshooting advice on one of my builds (poor vapor production and burning out way too fast). I may have to try that one of these days.

Then again, I just got me an Aspire Breeze 2 for portability reasons, and I actually like how it hits much more. Granted, first hit was like a damn mack truck, but I found that my little 30ml nic salt bottle lasts much longer than any 100ml bottle of regular juice I've had

My wife and I easily go through 100ml of 3mg juice per week. We vape too frequently to consider changing to nic salt.

About the cotton wicking, I've had people tell me that before, but I still experiment. The true test is how long the build lasts before I need to change cotton, and then how long the wire lasts before I have to replace it. My cotton usually lasts me 2-3 weeks, and wire lasts me about 6-8 weeks.

edit - I pulled out the outside wicking, it was too much cotton. Usable, and no spit, but had to use high wattage which was killing battery fast. Airflow was compromised too. Draw is easier doing it the right way. I have a tendency to experiment.

Lol, same. I experiment a lot, too. Random coils -- twisting different gauges, braiding, quad coils on an RTA made for dual coils, vertical coils, etc. I always find my way back to 5/6 wrap 24awg

as for "vape too frequently to change to salts," I used to go through 100ml 3mg every week and a half. With the nic salts, I've been on the same 30ml bottle for a month. Granted, it's 55mg nic, but it hits differently than a cloud chaser. I got the pod system, like I said, for portability, and at 33, still don't want my mom to know I smoked or currently vape (lol), and I was gonna be around a lot of family for my gramma's 95th. I think I've hit my RTA about 4-5 times since I got the pod system.
