I'm kinda in the same boat - I'd rather have the coverage to the ground. But I'll have to see how it looks when installed in person.
It looks fine and it’s functional as-is. Don’t go hacking it up because it serves no purpose to do so. :)

More pics! Also added a vantage point for those who wanted to see how low the flaps hang.

Red/white looks good on aegean blue. I Ordered the same color but I have a CW. Hopefully it looks just as good.

Here’s a couple quick n dirty pics. Def took me longer than an hour. Feel like the instructions for the rear could have been bit more clear. Took me a while to figure out which inner tab I needed to remove after pulling back the liner.

Pushed them as close to the centerline of the car as possible.

Yeah I didn’t like that part either. You have to be careful about seating the long screw into the female tab thingy so that when you tighten it the screw travels straight. I sat down, put the flap on my lap and worked it. Once the long screw/spacer rube was ready on the flap I started mounting the flap

Grab the flap, get a long screw, put the washer on the screw, run screw through the hole of the flap, then through the spacer. Easy part done.

Put center of push pin on the screw’s pointed end, apply gentle pressure at first, twist on, then apply more pressure and continue twisting until you get about 3 full revolutions.

Push the pop pin into the respective hole on the car, lay the flap down naturally and carefully, then hold the base of the pin that’s against the car with one hand (to prevent spinning) then slowly begin to twist the screw into it.

Do that until it’s mostly in there and let it be. Then do the rest of the stuff, leave it loose, adjust to your liking, then tighten a bottom screw then top (to prevent accidental moving of the flap) then tighten everything else.

Wish you were nearby because I’d be happy to help!
