IT's not your wastegate. its your by pass valve ( BPV )

If you told them the wastegate is loose then they didnt tighten it unless you pointed it out which bolts were loose

Yeah, I just had a ton of trouble getting the Boomba tight when I put it on (not sure it was ever 100%), due to the space limitations. It's probably just me overthinking, you're right. Even when it hadn't been touched, right off the lot. I only got about 16-17psi. Is that normal?
You are not getting what I'm saying. The factory thing you took off to put the blow off valve is not the wastegate. It's call the bypass valve. If you told the dealer that the wastegate is loose then they didn't tighten up your bypass valve

DC2Turbo is correct, you told the dealership the wrong part is loose. The BPV and wastegate are TWO different parts. So if they tightened the wastegate like you instructed, they never checked the BPV that you think is loose. So it will still need tightened, by the way, go to Walmart or auto part store and buy an expanding magnetic and get the socket out of your engine bay before it damages your car or falls out striking someone else s car.

Sorry, should have clarified. I understand I used the wrong word. But when I showed the dealer the "wastegate" I had the hood opened and literally pointed and touched the bypass valve. I assumed it wasn't a wastegate since it didn't...do what a wastegate does...i just didn't know the correct word. But the dealership knew what I was talking about and even took a picture of it on a tablet so the mechanics would see. My concern is that the mechanic just blew it off (pun intended) and didn't actually tighten it.

I guess what I'm really after here is: signs/symptoms its loose. Would it actually show on the psi gauge?

The obvious solution would be to try and tighten it. But like I said I don't even think I got the Boomba fully tightened due to space constraints.

Sorry, thanks for being patient. I'm not new to the car(Si) game, I owned a 7th gen Si for 3 years. But new to all things boost.
A stock BPV still emits some sound, from releasing pressure. However, it should not be at all times, and not loud like an open BOV setup. It should occur during the shift, and disappear. If you hear it during the entire power span you have a leak in either the BPV or you loosened the intake which can create a whistle sound as well.

Hi Coleman, welcome to the lounge.

Yeah, without a tune 16-17psi is normal for an Si. Good luck finding your socket (it may have already fallen out onto the road somewhere).

I second the motion that you should just use your recovered socket to make sure everything is tight. Why leave it to chance?
