I don't get what they're doing with these Accords. It's obvious that few people want them at the prices they're asking. Do they think demand is going to spike after they sit on the lot for 8 months and get farted in by tire kickers?

Funny how a few people are complaining about the CRV's speed. It has been quoted by every journalist as being peppy and its 0-60 time is unrivaled by anything in its class, the CX-5, Crosstreck, Rav-4, Rogue are all much slower.
I think to the average consumer, the CRV has plenty of power and is obviously better than the rest of its competition at least power wise, but keep in mind people on this forum represent a small fraction of the actual owners of Hondas out there. Most people on this forum have some interest in cars and are "enthusiasts" where as the average consumer wouldn't blink an eye if Honda said the CRV made 190 Duckpower instead of horsepower. That being said, I guess when people on this forum test drive cars like the CRV, it doesn't satisfy them power wise because they are looking for more. But in the real world, CRV has plenty of power for most people.

Its not its absolute speed - the problem is the turbo lag off the line. Before the turbo can spool up, it feels lifeless, and then when it does kick in the refinement is lacking since to make all that speed the CVT is basically doing that CVT high RPM drone. The CR-V we're comparing it to is not faster than the 2018, but it feels so much better in the way it delivers power to the vehicle... the 2011 was the last year before a CVT became standard... between the naturally aspirated larger engine and conventional automatic, its power delivery while not faster, was way more satisfying.

Absolute speed and 0-60 times aren't everything. Definitely test drive any vehicle you're considering and don't just go buying one based on magazine articles... the 2018 CR-V to me was such a disappointment when I got to test drive it, after reading all those wonderful reviews too.

Tell the dealer what you want to pay, and walk. Then swing by periodically to ask if they are willing to sell at that price. Hit other dealers and tell them the same. If the deal can be done, they will let you know. Time can wear down a dealership sales manager.
Pretty much what I did earlier this week after researching the competition pretty hard. It does work great, my salesman actually called me because they wanted the CR-V for their used lot. They are extremely low on used units currently. I think we are really close but the GM is being a little tough. We have no problem waiting.
Her CR-V does just fine in reality and we have a ton of equity in it so we have a lot of room & time.

Thankfully I use to work with a lot of the staff so they are very transparent with numbers & what is going on......just a very stubborn GM currently.

I bought a Civic Hatch and I'm smitten still about it. How can you fall out of L with an Accord?
I love the Accord 2.0T! Also love the Si.......but would be nice to have both!

I had the same thought, I hardly see an Accord on the road even. I see more Type R's, no joke. Just CR-V's & Civics everywhere.

It's decent and most people probably don't mind. My wife has a lead foot and the engine is so loud and annoying, it's pretty bad.
I thought she was exaggerating but wow, I couldn't drive it everyday either! If we keep the CR-V it is getting a KTuner immediately!

Yep! Nailed it, I feel the exact same way. That's a good way to describe the lack of power & noise.
I wasn't impressed on the test drive but my wife was smitten with it. I even gave her the CVT/Drone talk but she had to have it!

Gotta make Momma happy because if she ain't, no one is!! LOL
I'm just hoping I get a sweet Accord 2.0T out of the deal!!

I don't have any issues with the CRV. Wife loves it. When I drive it, there's plenty of power for how most folks drive an SUV. Probably why they sell a bajillion of 'em.

This is a pretty common sales tactic btw
Yes, it is.

However we are extremely good friends(16 years now.)
No sales tatic here. He's trying to help me get the wife an Accord and I'll happily give him a nice used car to make some cash on. Also there used lot was totally bare, they sold a crazy number of used cars.

I was in the industry a very long time and they know they can't pull any tricks because I know them all. Half the reason it's taking a bit, I'm sticking to my numbers. My friend is happy with our arrangement we just have to get this old cranky GM to go for it.

Everyone is fighting for their cut!

Do it! The Accord Touring 2.0 is so awesome!

The Accord is Fast! Feels refined and is a great everyday driver. I absolutely love the 10 AT but.... the civic is just so much fun to drive. I own all three pictured:

2018 Accord 2.0 Touring (stock for now, looking to get a Hondata for it)
2018 Civic Si Coupe (+9 Hondata)
2018 Civic Sport (+8ish custom Hondata)

Nice fleet!

I drove a touring with the adjustable dampers and it was even better than the Sport! Wish the wife would have listened and grabbed one intially but I couldn't get her to change her mind.

Doesn't handle like the Si but it is a blast to drive. Handles very well for a big sedan!

I just saw an 18 Accord 2.0T on the road and thought "wtf were they thinking when designing that ass end?" It's like a sterilized, overly "adult" Civic. The 16-17 Accord rear end was bad already. At least the front fascia and profile still looks good, but someone needs to fix the part most folks are going to see going down the road. It's so white girl basic. Like a VW or Volvo.

The rear end is why I could NOT by the new Accord. I have had Ram trucks for the last 5 years, and decided I really didn't need a truck that much. When I started looking, my selling points were that it needed to be less expensive, better on gas, but most importantly fun to drive. We had a 2001 Accord EX 5MT, and it was a blast to drive. When I started looking, the rear end of the Accord just killed me. That gap on the middle of the tail lights/reflectors just kills the look of the rear end. Add the fact that it's angled instead of straight, and it makes it worse.

So I looked at the Civic. Always liked the newest body style, and the bang for the buck of the Si was a win/win. Plus it's got a manual transmission. Even better!

And, Hondata makes a tune for the CR-V that adds 25 HP and 25 lb-ft of torque which they claim is good for almost a one second improvement to the 0-60 time. If that's accurate, that's huge. 0-60 in under 7 seconds in a CR-V? Not bad!

the 2011 was the last year before a CVT became standard...
The CR-V didn't get a CVT until the 2015 model year.

Accord would probably be my next car if it was a liftback. I love my Si but I don't think I can do another coupe or sedan after this, it's just too much of a pain as a hockey car (we do 3 guys in one car pretty frequently so you have to pass sticks up into the passenger footwell from the back seat.) Hoping Honda makes a hatch Si by the time I'm ready to upgrade but not holding my breath.
