I have a question concerning doing these dyno runs.
I have a 2018 CTR and I see all these people doing dyno runs with it on You tube.
They all complain about the air temps and the lack of the intercooler to keep the temps in check.
When they are doing the dyno runs, no one has air flow to the intercooler.
I'm thinking in top gear at red line, you are going to have some serious airflow thru that convector.
Did you see your inlet air temps rise?
I see a carpet fan sitting there, was that what you used to keep the inlet air temps in check?
Or am I misunderstanding how the intercooler rejects heat?

The Dude Abides

That's above my pay grade bro...
I just pay for the tune and walk out happy. There was 3 fans in total... one for the exhaust sucking air out.... one for air flow... and the smaller one .. which I guess was simulating air passing to the intercooler while driving.

I think...

Nice numbers I got mine tuned done at IMW on an E40 blend. I was wishing for more but I am happy with the current power pulls a lot better on the top end.

I recall KTuner mentioning that their new 27Won Basemap saw much more power on a car with a 3 inch front pipe. Do you think that this alone could cause a big difference?
So far, all the cars with smaller front pipes have dyno'd about 15-25 HP lower. I'd definitely say that's a big difference.

If you're gonna get a bigger turbo, you really should do it up all the way and get bigger pipes. But I appreciate the way 27WON does it and lets you go piecemeal according to your budget

My front pipe is 2.5" and I have the stock exhaust so if I go for the 3" and lets say the Greddy exhaust I should pick up some power.

You're good brother. Get them 3" pipes and get back on the dyno and be in the #300whpclub

I admit that I am a bit confused by the large difference that a 3 inch FP makes. I mean, the larger diameter piping being less restrictive makes perfect sense, but it's been said that our (<3 inch) exhaust is not restrictive. Why would a smaller diameter FP be restrictive, but a smaller exhaust not be?

The stock SI FP and exhaust is not restrictive with our stock turbo. Upgrading the DP has shown gains. Upgrading the FP with the stock turbo doesn't seem to show much gains. Early reports of people using the upgraded turbo are leaning towards the FP upgrade offering a significant power increase. I still haven't heard of anyone showing gains for changing out the stock exhaust(post cat or after where the stock cat would be when going catless). Taking a guess here, likely the wider piping closer to the turbo is more important than the rest of the exhaust system diameter. Many turbo cars have used a "bellmouth" type design coming off the turbo, others have used a divorced setup to prevent turbulence of exhaust gases immediately after the turbo.

I have the greddy exhaust with stock dp/fp. Can i just upgrade to a 3” catted dp and leave the stock fp and still have gains? I’d be going from 3”- 2 1/4 ? Back to 3”.
I have no plans to upgrade turbo.
Thanks

As I understand it - yes you can. Bear in mind many catted DP's have a low rating and often still trip the CEL.

Thanks. I'll be sure to get a higher rated one then lol. I can clear code but would rather not have it at all.
