Why'd You Pick Civic X ?

When I saw the hatch on the road for the first time, I did a double take to find out what the hell it was and I was super impressed and excited to see it was a Civic. When our last car got stolen, I saw my opportunity and eventually convinced my wife toward the Hatch EX due to:

-1st and most importantly, it's a Honda
-front passenger legroom(especially compared to HR-V)
-Tardis like cargo room
-crazy stowage for the driver and front passenger(especially compared to HR-V)
-fun to drive & quiet(especially compared to HR-V which is neither)
-Android Auto & CarPlay(absent on HR-V)

Considering both of our needs, we did originally lean toward the HR-V, but after test driving both, the pedigree of the Civic was obvious and a huge advantage. It turned out to be a no-brainer.

Absolutely, but saying that “Honda makes the best sporty passenger cars” is an overstatement.

I still like the styling. Was coming out the touchless wash the other day and a guy wiping his Caddy down, stopped to take a good look at my car. It may not be perfect or expensive, but it still draws attention and it is a good value for what it has.

that's not what you originally refuted though. The original statement was that you didn't think honda made the best *affordable* sporty passenger car, not whether you thought they were overpriced.

There's a reason why lots of car publications have selected the civic as one of the best cars available in America (ie Car and Driver 10 best for civic sport/Si/typeR)

Made a point that you thought they are overpriced - compared to what? Garbage like a Chevy Spark? Or like the more expensive Golf? Or the Hyundai Elantra? For the money, you're getting about as good of a vehicle as you can.

I can list many cars but do your own homework. Do not rely on people's research as they are biased I find. I don't have the time to argue . Move on

The Civic isn't the entry level car anymore. That's the Fit's slot. The Civic is priced right where it should be, relative to the Corolla, etc.

Because I had a 2005 Civic that was the most reliable car I ever drove.

I dont think it's overpriced. You have to take in the inflation factor. 11 years ago i bought the Corolla S for 17k OTD. Looking back at that time, the current price is reflecting accordingly to the market.

Toyota is the overpriced brand with its comparables like Honda, Mazda, Nissan, etc.
