@RV6, now that it seems like you guys are caught up with downpipe preorders....any update you could give on the progress of your frontpipe?!?
We just finished the prototype today. Everything fits perfect with a full size 6" long flexpipe for longevity. Pics to come.

FYI guys we have 2 catless black and 3 catted downpipes downpipes in stock at the moment. We will making more ASAP.
Is the ceramic coating necessary if the car isnt going to be a track car and its not my daily driver either. I mean doesnt the factory heat shield cover the downpipe?

It’s not necessary, but every little bit helps.

I have the ceramic coated catless and I'm in love with it! Can't wait for the downpipe. Will this be the frontpipe thread also or would another thread be created for the frontpipe?

We will most likely start a new thread for preorders.

Will this downpipe fit a aftermarket turbo when it comes out or will it need to be replaced?

Turbo upgrades are far in the future right now so i wouldn't make that a determining factor for the downpipe. We are bottlenecked by fuel right now, so we need a upgraded DI pump or switch to port injection before any significant power can be made. Also rumor is it becomes unsafe going over 400TQ as it starts bending rods. Also the integrated exhaust manifold might make turbo replacement/tuning difficult as well. Here is a great teardown and review article about the K20C1 head.

400tq has always been a tough threshold to cross for two of the cars I've owned - EVO IX and MS3. In the former, you'd break the trans or a diff. In the latter, you'd bend a rod with ease if you loaded the car down hard in high gear. For the EVO it really wasn't much of an issue, guys were making 550 awhp by just holding 38-395 tq all the way out to 7500 RPM or whatever that would take (too lazy to use a calculator, sorry :)) and that's probably doubly true for the CTR. In the EVO the hit of torque wasn't such a big deal due to AWD but in a FWD platform we have to be quite a bit more judicious in how and when we try to put that kind of power out of the motor.

Edit - and upon further reflection, I don't even think rod-bending in the MS3 required 400 tq, more like 325 or so, driven poorly.

Very good point, they used that strategy on EVOs with 6-speeds for both the motor and trans' sakes. Good call!

This was a very interesting read thanks for the post. The fuel problem is a concern which i saw consistent with the hondata results after tuning these cars.
