Good luck. It's so odd that this warranty fix is sometimes covered only, depends on the dealer

I'm having AC problems as well my 2016 Civic Lx in California is leaking from the compressor. It has been hot as heck the last few weeks. I got denied my extended warranty claim once and I am going to the dealer I bought the car from and they are taking a long time approving it since it is a third party warrant company. Been over a week and got a small chevy compact as a loaner. I hate that piece of crap since it is so small.

Quoted 1600-2000 grand most places and the one guy I trusted told me he would only charge 1000 to fix it. Compressors just do not go bad so I am trying to figure out what is causing this.

As a result of this I'm thinking of tinting my windows to make the inside cooler.

I'm sure it helps, but I've had tinting on my car from day 1 and these last 6 weeks trying to get my AC fixed haven't exactly been comfortable. I'd suggest investing in good window shades for when the car is sitting out.

Honda should probably recall this but they would lose millions of dollars

Took a week but my AC works well even better than when I first bought the car. When it leaks again in 5 years and my extended warranty is dead I will invest in another 16 dollar fan like I just did.

Around my area tinting windows might be just as expensive as repairing condenser.

My AC is very weak after new condensor. And car doesn’t get speed with it on. I am pretty miserable with this car right now.

My 2016 is in at Honda right now. Condenser went on it. This should be recalled. Are the new condesers more reliable? Is this only a 2016 issue?

Maybe I should seek another dealer and have them take a look at the condenser?
But don’t want to pay another diagnostics fee for a car that is under warranty. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Somehow coolant/refrigerant levels were low.
I only use the AC when the weather is unbearable. I don't use my AC a lot because I like the outside breeze.
Dealer charged $300+ for labor and the coolant.
Stay away from civic 10th gens.

I guess I got lucky.

Honda just replaced my leaky condenser yesterday under warranty but it took them over a month to order the parts and Freon since everything was on back-order. They replaced it, no questions asked.

One thing I am concerned though is that my 2013 Civic blows much colder air than the 2016 Civic. Maybe the 10th gen Civics just blows?

I will repeat. My 2018 Civic literally blows ice air in 105 degree weather.

I have a 2013 Civic too and noticed the same thing. The AC is so much stronger. Even after 5 years and 130,000km. When it's set to low for more than 15 or 20 minutes, it starts to get uncomfortably cold lol. Meanwhile I drive around with my 2016 permanently set to low in the summer :dunno:

Well over here its 300 for full ceramic tinting and a compressor and condenser is well over a grand either case I didnt care to get either. My dad got a ticket for a tintjob and I have been tailgated by police because they get bored. Frankly if they are that bored let them see what I have in my car so they can wish they can have it.

I do not know why you would get charged so much guess its supply and demand over here too many get it so it's cheap . Got my AC fixed works great but I might have to go to court for the 500 freon scam a dealer pulled on me.

Went to another dealer and they honored warranty and charged 100 so go figure.

With the basic tinting I was quoted 160 with full ceramic it was 350 but the guy gave me a 50 dollar discount. At the time close to doing it but had educational and the freon expense.
