This one: http://crc-canada.ca/automotive/cleaner-degreaser/gdi-ivd-intake-valve-turbo-cleaner.html

There is a thread somewhere here that discusses carbon build up and someone mentioned not to use Seafoam on the 1.5L turbo.

The CRC product is not seafoam and it says it's compatible with turbos.

My 1.5L touring has 40k kms on it and I have been sticking to the maintenance minder but unfortunately have been using gas that is not known to be top tier.

Most definitely there is going to be some bad carbon build up on the intake valves.

The instructions suggest to spray this just after the MAF sensor which would mean it would go into the turbo and clean its impeller and then to the intake manifold and valves which would get some cleaning too.

Anyone know of any reasons why not to use this CRC product on the 1.5L?

Given the cheapo non-toptier gas that I've been using, my slow driving habits, and that carbon buildup is inevitable, I'd guess there is at least some carbon build up. Maybe not enough to be concerned about. But perhaps a stitch in time can save nine. This can sells for about $12 CDN in Canada.

I'm pretty sure they sell the same stuff here in the states. You can always give it a try. It's unlikely to hurt anything. I know my mom's Sonata actually calls for a top end decarbonizer in the manual if using non-top tier fuels (it's an NA DI). I don't recall the same statement in our manual.

I'd want to use a boroscope and look at the valves before and after personally. I hate doing things for no reason as much as doing something but never knowing if it actually had any effect.

Whenever I remember, say about every 8k-12k miles. No codes.
Sorry, forgot to ask this also. Did you spray direct into the intake? or through the brake booster vacuum line?

My warranty is going to expire in about 15k kms. The day that happens I will take a boroscope into the intake manifold and share some pictures here.

If it looks bad, I am going to try a can of one of these.

I think it'd be very useful info for all.
