I actually didn't want a 10th-gen. I didn't want any kind of a Civic. I'm long past the point in my life where I buy cars based mostly on affordability/daily-drivability/family reasons. I would have bought some other sports car or sports sedan like a BMW M4/M3/M2. But the Type R got such rave reviews, dominated its segment, and was offered for at such a reasonable price that I had to have it. I'm a former Integra Type R owner from way back and that nostalgia also factored in. So it had to be a CTR or bust. That said, if I had to pay even $500 more ADM than I did (and this is the first car I've ever paid a markup), I would have passed on it.

Yeah I'm a weird one like that, too. Honda didn't really make a car that I wanted before this. When they launched the new platform I thought it was cool because it has the same rear suspension design that I've had on several other cars. I still didn't want one, though. A year or so later I was looking for a comfortable but not boring daily driver, but I didn't need something immediately.

I knew I really wanted Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist. Mostly I was test driving used and some new Audi's, but they are very hard to find with all the options I wanted. I even had a dealership notify me when the first new A5 Sportback rolled off the truck. That was a bit more money than I wanted to spend, because they are all loaded vs the A4. I don't need AWD. I was disappointed that I thought they looked better in the media shots than in person.

When I found out the new Civic Hatchback could be ordered with ACC and LKAS, I decided it was worth a test drive. I was sold on the tech, comfort, and handling feel. I worked with a few dealerships to track down the loaded but not-intentionally-aggressive EX-L with Sensing.

I don't love the car like some others I've owned, but I have to admit I really like driving it. I looked at the Accords when they came out, but even the Sport with active dampers feels too soft compared to my Civic. Honda really got it right with this one. I'll definitely be test driving an ILX when/if they update to this platform.

TL;DR:
Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise
Comfortable, not sloppy handling

I looked at,drove, and evaluated other products offered by Mazda, Suburu, Kia, Nissan, Toyota, etc but as soon as I drove my Civic Hatch I knew " this is it" !
End of story.

I came from an 03 Mustang GT, to a 2015 Civic EX Coupe. I wanted a brand new Si, but couldn't talk the price down or get financed for it. When the CivicX Si was announced, I fell in love at first sight. Got to have close to the same power as my old Mustang, better handling, and got to keep the same/better MPG of my 15 Civic. Oh and decided that a sedan would be a lot more convenient!

If I had to pick one reason . Design. Not just exterior but interior as well.

This is how I make my decision on all my previous and current vehicles.

Because Honda makes the best sporty passenger cars.

Every time pull up to a low level BMW or Audi, I feel I made a great decision - Civic SI is s quick, fun, well made car for half the price of what luxury cars would cost. Not to mention ongoing maintenance savings, cost of fuel, etc.

I love my Si, but be real. I had a loaded ‘13 A4 and it was better in every way except the price and fuel economy, and reliability if you’re looking at long term ownership. I leased, so the last point wasn’t a consideration.

You can’t compare an essentially econobox to a luxury brand, even at the lower end.

I am a Honda fanboi and have been since the late 90's. I've always had great luck with reliability and like the style.

I came from a 2013 Si.

When I stopped by the dealer to talk with a friend of mine I saw my 2018 OWP Si rolling of the truck and and knew I had to have it. Also getting it for 22K OTD def made the deal even sweeter.

Six months in and I am still in love, the car is so amazing. Especially with all the mods I have added.

For years I have been an avid Civic hater. I felt that civics fell into 2 camps. Those that were modders to the point of being "ricers" and then the opposite side of the spectrum, those that bought a civic since it was reliable, safe, and quite frankly boring. (granted, I will admit this may not be totally fair, but what can I say?)

The 10th gen hatchback was the first Civic that made me say "Damn, what is that??" The design and features just really got me thinking, and then when i took it for a test drive I was locked in..

This was the first car I've bought new, and I wanted something that was modern, stylish (I personally love the styling still), had decent horsepower, good MPG and most importantly: reliable. This is also my first Honda, but I've always heard good things about Honda's reliability and value. I also wanted something that would resell for a good price when the time comes. I was cross shopping between the Corolla, Elantra and Jetta. The Corolla has about zero to none horsepower, I actually kind of like the Elantra but those things depreciate the moment you drive off the lot, and Jetta's get too pricey for what its worth when you add options. I bought my EXT last year and I thought and still do think that it is an amazing package for the value (bought mine for just under $25k I believe). It was affordable but also had the most options, like comparable horsepower, Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, etc.
