Funny how you ignored his answer and asked why.
To further expound upon my previous reply, I purchased a fumoto valve because I really abhor getting oil on my garage floor as well as all over my hands. I've done hundreds of oil changes and I have never mastered the art of properly placing an oil drain pan to fully catch the oil as it first drains without splash back. Maybe it's poor hand eye coordination or maybe it's because I'm just terrible at oil changes. Either way it's probably quite irrational and probably a bit OCD but it drives me crazy when the oil splashes onto the concrete. Furthermore, not all of the oil gets completely drained out of an oil drain pan when it is time to dispose of it. For me, it is much easier and less messy to be able to attach a hose to a fumoto valve and have it drain directly into a disposable vessel that the city can then pick up and properly dispose of.
Now the main question that has been posited appears to relate to the possibility of catastrophic engine failure due to the introduction of another possible point of failure. This of course is a valid concern; however, there are few enough cases of those occurrences to warrant any real concern on my part. Upon further research, it would appear that many of those failures could have been mitigated through the use of a hose clamp that is available through the fumoto valve website. I used to have a great deal of anxiety when it came time to change my oil but ever since I began utilizing a fumoto valve I have seen oil changes as a relaxing and enjoyable experience. To further emphasize my dislike of getting things on my hands, I wear nitrile gloves pretty much whenever a task may soil my hands. I have never changed my child's diaper without gloves. I have never handled a patient without gloves. I even wear gloves for a basic head to toe physical assessment. I'll even put on gloves to listen to lung sounds on a patient.

Oh this is the thread that made you so butt hurt you felt like you needed to PM me. Cool.

I didn't ignore anything. Someone asked opinions, and someone asked why they thought failure points were an issue. I explained both. I don't understand why you're so wounded. It's unlikely that a Fumito or w.e valve will fail, sure, but I'll stand behind my opinion that adding additional failure modes is always a bad idea. Just leave it alone and unbolt it. I've changed the oil on probably a thousand cars and it's not hard (though, admittedly, I gave it up without a lift).

Oh wait, you put me on ignore because you're a bad dude. Have fun, fella.

No, it's just a mess no matter what you do. But your opinions are totally valid. I get it, I guess, putting on a Fumito valve. I just don't get it ;)

Just because you're completely wrong doesn't mean you don't have anything good to say, right?
Only my wife can tell me I’m wrong

You don't need to explain yourself to anyone over your mods. If the members on this forum can't give you mutual respect with what you have done, then they aren't worth conversing with.

I don't know who you are referring to, but if it's me, be a man and call me out. If it's me, explain how I'm sore when I DM the guy and told him I ignored him. He proceeds to make a post about me which might have prompted your post? If anything, it shows that he is the one who is sore about all this.

The guy I ignored is belittling people who own a product he doesn't understand the value of. Using a slippery slope example to spread fear is bad juju. He follows up by saying it's some kind of zomg mod when it has been around for over forty years. Don't appreciate people judging other people over what they do to their own cars.

Multi Level Marketing has aggressive near-rabid fan base of users. I don't think it is bad oil, just badly overpriced.
