Hey Type R Family!

I just purchased my "dream car" Champ White FK8 a week ago and I am loving it so far. The only thing that bugs me is the idea of making it a daily driver and maybe losing some of its special feeling... Am I the only one who feels this way? Hopefully this point isn't all over the forum. If so what do you guys daily drive?

Thanks!

I daily a work van, so maybe my special feeling doesn't get diluted and my thoughts aren't helpful. Anyway, one of the things I love about this car is that it can be as tame as my wife's CRV on a regular commute, but when asked can really wake up and get after it like few cars I've ever driven. I don't think that satisfaction, that special feeling, will go away.

Congrats on your purchase. I'm of the belief that you should drive the hell out of what you own. If I could daily my type r, I would. I just need my pickup for work.

October will be a year I have owned my CTR and it's my daily driver. Trust me the feeling never goes away! I still find myself wanting to drive around for no reason at all.

I daily a 2013 Civic Si Coupe. I would daily the CTR, and it certainly is practical and comfortable enough to daily, but I have to park it in the sun all day at work so I would prefer to drive the Si for daily purposes and the CTR for fun and on weekends. I agree with what others have said in this thread, not dailying the CTR adds to the special feeling you get when you do drive it.

I'm going to daily my Type R. I've already clocked a 4 hour road trip and I loved every moment. Just the right amount of engine roar. You're able to spread out a bit in the racing seats if you want to. The suspension is so supple - I winced every time I went over an expansion joint or hit uneven roads just because of the impact on the rims, but my rims look fine. I'm not going to worry about it, I'm just going to drive it.

Congrats on your purchase. I daily my CTR everyday and my commute to work alone is 50 miles each way and 100 miles round trip. I have owned my CTR for less than a year and already have about 12k. Itā€™s a fun car to drive and enjoy driving it very much. I donā€™t plan on modding the car and plan on keeping it in stock form. Modding a daily driven CTR makeā€™s it a hassle to drive and worrying about the police pulling you over and writing up a state referee ticket. The only fix-it-ticket I can get on my CTR is not having a front license plate but I can manage to deal with that. Just enjoy the car for what it is and itā€™s built to perform straight from the factory.

I daily a Toyota Tundra, so I am lucky that I don't have to drive my CTR in rain or snow/sleet. but it's such a well mannered car, I would see no issue driving it daily (obviously with a 2nd set of tires if you live in a snow area).

Congratulations! It's really a fun, fantastic car and for the price it truly is as they say, a steal....

I drive a '16 ILX as my daily so every time i step inside of the CTR, it has that "feeling" lol. The commute that I do (30miles each way) is filled with traffic and it's super boring to drive. I wouldn't mind dailying the CTR but there's just no point when I'm sitting in bumper to bumper for majority of my commute. I would probably drive it more to work if the traffic was more free flowing.

Not DDing the car does add to the "feeling" though. Every time I step into it, it refreshes the "feeling" if you know what i mean lol.

Man I felt the same when I first bought my C7 Corvette but I quickly realized that 1. It's just a car. and 2. You're not truly enjoying it if it's a garage queen. The same philosophy applies to my CTR.

Itā€™s just a car, from the extremely reliable Honda brand. DD it. Why did you buy it if you werenā€™t going to enjoy it?
