I would never intentionally take my SI down to empty on gas. But I did it to determine what my Max gas range is.

Made it to 9 miles left!!!

Anyone else make it lower?

I don't know what my miles left were at but my most on a tank was 452.3 miles at 40.1 mpg.

Didnā€™t get a picture, but I was at 2 or 4 or something stupid like that because I didnā€™t feel like stopping to fill up on my way home from work.

My US model SI is tripping me the fuck out... What does your range say on a full tank?

A full tank for me gets 308mile range... Wtf I feel like everyone else reports higher.

I believe the range is based on your previous mpg average. It goes up as you drive it or down pending how heavy your foot is. I pretty much stay out of boost a good bit of the time and average 38-41. Check your tire pressures monthly. Also, Iā€™ve noticed mpg differences w different gas brands. I use QT ā€˜93 most of the time but will sometimes use shell as itā€™s right by my house and every time I noticed a drop of 2-3 mpg. And damn 3.80 a gallon!?! Weā€™re at 3.10 here

I use Exxon and my range at fill up is usually around 437 mi or something close. Our prices are in line, unfortunately, with CA, at least for Premium. Reg is around $3.13 and Premium is in the neighborhood of $3.80, but then, PA has the highest gas tax in the country (but our roads don't show it - that's where the tax is supposed to be going).

I have noticed, however, a difference in mpg depending upon *which* Exxon I fill up at.

And since I'm paranoid...I never let it get much below about 80 mi to empty, and usually not even that low.

I estimate that the range on my Si hits zero with about 1.5 gallons left in the tank. Since I am averaging 37-38 mpg I would be comfortable driving 30 miles past ā€œrangeā€ = 0.

I generally fill up before that for a variety of reasons.

This makes alot more sense. Now I know why I get a much lower range then others. Unfortunately I live in the high desert of SoCal and to commute to work I take a road that was manufactured by Satans minions called Bear Valley Rd. I'll reset my gauge and recheck my gas range after a fill up.

I have also driven past the zero mark. No pic for internet proof, but I was over twenty miles past. Don't judge me. :(

...PA has the highest gas tax in the country (but our roads don't show it - that's where the tax is supposed to be going).
Also in PA, and can confirm this fact. Roads suck, and gas is expensive. I've seen potholes that are like 6 feet around and 2-3 feet deep, and this is around Pittsburgh, in case anyone was wondering.

On a relevant note to the thread I've run my car down at least 10 miles past 0. No proof of that, because I didn't think it was significant. I think of it from the automakers perspective. You know if the car stopped running right at 0, someone would get all ticked off and go after them (It's a sad world we live in). I know a Chevy Silverado I used to drive would stop giving you a range at around 40 miles, and start giving you the gas light.
