Honda's answer for now is a new amp for the stereo. I hope that this will fix it. The amp should be installed on Tuesday.
Keep us updated please. I have a stinking suspicion that the same amps that were made about the time that the tourings had no audio problems are the ones affected.

And that the problem substantially impacts value and function. Like the car is worth thousands less and can't be drive except down hill or when the sun is out.
I'm taking my chances. Sent certified letter asking for final repair attempt. Honda NA drags their ass once a case is assigned and I feel it does significantly impact the value of the car. Imagine trying to sell it and having to say "yeah, the premium sound system works sometimes, and sometimes it doesnt... don't know why."

Did you get a new amp yet? Somewhere I thought that they said that they got a new amp. I am getting a new amp on Tuesday and hope that fixes it.

I'm just putting them on notice. I'll accept a fix, if it's a final fix. I've been to the dealership so many times in the last 2 months for various sound system issues and the surging issue, I'm really out of patience as far as guess work goes.

And thank you for the video - and the added bonus of seeing that a bicycle will fit in the trunk. Hope they get all these bugs worked out. The Civic will be slammed with bad reviews on reliability on all this, but the car is still a great car.

I've now been to my Honda dealership 5-6 times for audio & climate control issues. Sub-woofer rattle fixed. 'Auto' climate control not fixed, but low on my list of grievances at this point. And then there is the obnoxious loud audio popping. Oh the popping...

On two separate occasions the audio update TSB was performed to 'fix' the loud popping noise I've experienced.? This week i experienced the popping noise again and drove to my Honda dealer immediately to show them exactly what is happening. The service manager was shocked at the loudness of the popping. I think the severity of the issue finally 'popped' for them (pardon the pun).

They kept my car and ended up replacing the amp. I just went to pick up the car and turned on the NAV to locate a nearby restaurant only to find it said 'searching for satellites'. I thought maybe I just needed to drive around a bit. Stopped and restarted the car also to no avail. Never before had I experienced ANY issues with the NAV until now. Headed right back to the dealer and after waiting another 30 min for them to inspect the car they now said I need to have the head unit replaced.

This is seriously beginning to wear heavily on my nerves. I do not have the time, let alone the patience, to deal with this 'alpha' release of Honda's infotainment issues. I bought a Honda for their reputation of reliability. I have never been so disappointed in a vehicle as I am with my 2016 Honda Civic Touring 'Car of the flipping-year'.

Omgosh!!! I'm so glad I found this forum. I just purchased my Touring 6 days ago and have been to the dealership 2x, and have to figure out how to take it back AGAIN. first the charging port unit was broken (used to be called a cigarette lighter). Apparently it was installed wrong. They also had to address my Bluetooth issue- where when playing music the audio drops and skips over and over and over in the song, also the issue where there is absolutely no sound when starting the car from time to time. Mind you, I experienced all of these issues within the first 4 hours of having the car!!

The day after my purchase, I dropped off my new touring to service. Three days later service tells me they couldn't replicate the audio issues, but that they refreshed the system and it should be fine now. Nope.

Not 10 minutes after driving off the lot it happened again. I took it back and they sat with me and confirmed the issue WAS there and indeed was very annoying. They said that Honda techline initially said there was no issue the first time they called about the audio on day 1, but now since the tech replicated the issue they can confirm its a KNOWN issue that requires a software update that they haven't produced yet.

I was advised to avoid Bluetooth and use CarPlay for audio and sent on my way. The next day I experience the no audio issue at start up. One day after that I get that power surge popping sound that blasted my ears and I'm sure my speakers are damaged because of it!!! I now have to make yet ANOTHER drive to Honda to get service to look at it and at least document my issues.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, but to know this many have issues with the touring is really unnerving. Why is there no coverage on this publicly so that it lights a fire under Honda to get more resources allocated towards fixing these major issues?!!!

And did anyone answer the question on whether the speakers are covered under warranty? I'm sure that's going to come in handy soon with the high volume popping.

I still think the car itself is beautiful, but I am disgusted with Honda at this point.

Yeah the car speakers should be covered under warranty especially since you had the dealer document it. You will probably end up getting a new amp for the stereo. I am getting a new one on Tuesday. I am being told that this will fix the problem. I am not convinced but I am crossing my fingers.

The initial update released by Honda was not intended to fix the popping issue caused by Neural Surround. It was only intended to fix an error where no audio playing.

Honda has yet to release any fix for or statement about this issue. Please contact Honda Technical Support and report the issue to them. The only way we will get them to release an update for it is if they are aware of how widespread this issue is.
is there a specific number we should call??

Yeah you should call Honda at 18009991009
Call Honda, start a case. Tell them what you want and make sure you have taken your car in a few times (South Carolina requires 3 visits to the dealership). Give them 2 weeks to not do any meaningful followup with you, then send a certified letter per the instructions in your consumer manual that came with the vehicle.

Well today I received the new amp. So far so good.

On another note, this is the first time that I have ever hhad Sirius xm satellite radio. Since the day that I purchased the car in late January the satellite reception was poor around buildings and next to my house. I don't live in a big city with skyscrapers either. Today after having the new amp installed reception seems to be much improved. I even drove around the spots where reception had been really poor. I am curious how the amp would have corrected the reception. Any thoughts?

I will report back in a week or two and let everyone know if I believe that the amp actually fixed the problems.

Could be drawing electrical power from the receiver, or the software/hardware/firmware is crap and 'dimming' your audio from sirius radio. Thank you for the update - I unfortunately have not had this happen often enough to where I can record it and show the dealer. I've told the dealer about it, but have had no follow up on it.

Make sure that you call Honda and demand that they are opening a case and assign a case manager
