Between the Gloss Black grill and the Chrome grill which one will hold up better over the long term?

Well, the gloss black is black plastic throughout.

"Chrome" in modern car parlance is a euphemism for plastic coated with a veneer which approximates the appearance of 1950's-style chrome. What do you think happens to this veneer when a rock hits it? That's your answer.

The black grile is not black plastic, it is painted. It is some sort of rubbery paint. I know because 3 days after getting the car a careless bypasser scratched it, probably with a case of some sort. It was polished and the detailer said that it has some sort of soft rubbery paint on it.
If you look into the proper light you can see the orange peel on it. Same goes for the black side panels.

Nope. I added the black grill from the touring to my coupe and it's a shiny black plastic (actually a very deep purple) which a bright light can pass through. There's no paint of any sort on it.

Then how did the detailer manage to polish out a big scratch from that grille?

It's the one the car came from the factory with. Even in the picture above, you ca see the orange peel on it. :)

Maybe Honda does different grilles depending on the market the car is going to be sold on?
