I have 255/40/17 Bridgestones. Another SI driver is running very high rear pressures and a stiffer bar setting so I think I'll stiffen the bar this weekend and see how that works.

What tires are you running, and what sizes? That sounds really high; I'm running 33F/30R on 255/40/17 Kumhos.
Does the Kumho have a super stiff sidewall? I think the main reason people run higher pressures is to preserve the life of the tire by trying to limit how much you roll onto the sidewall.

They feel stiffer than Rivals, but nowhere near as stiff as RE71Rs. I'm right at the wear diamonds, maybe a *hair* below.

“Wear diamonds”? Depends on where those are on that particular tire. 33/30 does seem a little low to me, though.

It "seems" low to me as well, but as long as I'm not rolling over onto the sidewalls, I figure I'm maximizing my available grip. I'd probably need to go a little higher on concrete or racetrack asphalt, but all of our venues in central TX are low-grip, dusty, sandy parking lots.

Is that how much fuel you have to run in the car to avoid starvation?
Definitely not. I've run with below 1/4" tank (roughly 3 gallons) and no fuel starvation.

My friend though with his Type R reports to me he needs at least half a tank to prevent it

Good to know. In my experience/observation, newer cars don’t need nearly as much fuel to avoid starvation. My 1989 Civic in STS trim needs almost 3/4 tank, and it sucks.

Good luck in Packwood!

For what it's worth, we haven't had fuel starve in Apex Carver's Type R. I was experiencing intermittent hesitation exiting corners that I thought was fuel starve until I realized that it was actually the car cutting power if I applied gas too soon after coming off the brake (I left foot brake). Could that be your friend's problem?

I just ordered a set of wheels and tires for my SI. Hopefully in 2 weeks I will have a chance to run them. I got 255/40/17 Bridgestones on 17x8. I am scared they might rub at 40mm offset, but I hope I am all good.
