So did Honda get the CVT right on the 16' ?

Have not seen any post about the CVT being or acting up , or did I not see them.

aside from the surging on the turbo models [a TSB has been released in regards to it] it works fine

I have a CVT in my Jeep Compass which completely sucks so I was worried getting another CVT in the civic. The Honda CVT however is vastly better than the jeep. This one feels responsive and sporty while the jeep just feels like ur gonna kill the engine if you push it getting up a hill. I'm really liking this CVT and overall it's changing my opinion of CVTs in general.

Like the CVT just fine, but I like the Subaru CVT better. Subaru's CVT just feels more solid, totally subjective, no facts or numbers to support.

I love it. If I had to be nit-picky, I would say I don't like the simulated shifts. I really hope there is a way to 'tune' it out so to speak. I remember my CVT Insight, and that thing was suchba smooth transition. The Civics almost feels a little clunky sometimes. However, definitely not a deal breaker.

I also wish I could remove the simulated shifts completely. Better than any auto I've driven. Better than the cvt in the 2006 Prius I've driven. We've had a decade there so no huge surprise.

I think they did a great job with the CVT. With the turbo it's a joy to drive. Acceleration is brisk, smooth, and effortless.

I don't feel any type of simulated shift. The only time I ever felt anything like a shift was when I had the car in "S"port mode and I had it floored. Otherwise I've never felt fake shift points.

No paddle shifters, so no they didn't. It does have a good feel to it but I was hoping for the shifters. I guess that wasn't ever their plan

I've grown to love the CVT transmission on my 9th gen Accord and I love it on the new Civic as well. Provides a smooth acceleration, there's no gear hunting, and the gas economy thanks to the CVT. Though, I have to admit, I do miss the paddle shifters from the Accord and being able to downshift while coasting or going downhill.

You can always drop the transmission into S mode to get a downshift/ engine braking effect.

Not sure if this is a joke or not. There is no Gears so what would you be shifting? Most CVT's are just as quick in D as they are in Sport mode or with paddles, so it wouldn't do anything other then give you the illusion you are actually doing something. I want ALL concept of shifting to be gone in CVT's. There is no need for it at all it should just be nothing felt other than power/ratio ramping up and down.

I agree on this being that it's CVT. But I guess it's just me wishing I had a manual but others need to drive it that can't drive manual

I agree with you 100%, there should be a way to disable the fake "shift points" from the CVT mapping. Some may still want the feel of an automatic transmission shifting gears but I can do without.

Apparently it's been one of the biggest complaints that Nissan gets about the CVT people report that it's broken because they can't feel any shifting, so they have on purpose been making the fake shifts more and more pronounced. If you Drive a 2013 Altima in the first few months it was out you would never feel ANY shift, it was great, but if you drive one now after a few ECU updates you definitely feel fake shifts. Even when NOT in sport mode. One of the changes on the 2016 was to make them even more noticable.
