2017 models were $33,900
2018 models were $34,100

Then earlier this year Honda did a mid-year price jump to $34,700 which is the current MSRP without shipping.
Oh, I thought you meant the "2019" Type R was showing an even higher MSRP. Current MSRP with Destination is $35,595 and has been for a little bit.

Yeah, the sales guy at my dealership thought the jump to $35,595 meant that it was a 2019. I have no idea whether they'll sell 2019 Type Rs but I bet that if they do, there will be another price jump.

EDIT: Its worth noting that Honda didn't switch to 2018 model year until November 2017.

"There is not going to be a 2019 Type R. I don't know why everyone thinks now that the car finally arrived here in the Usa 2 years ago that Honda is going to keep making that model now, won't happen I can tell you that much and if they do make a batch of them again it will be a few years from now. I know someone very high up in the Honda Motors Corp and I will tell you this much only."
Please don't tell me any of you believe this BS.
Do you actually think Honda would put so much money into the development of the current global Type R for a run of only 1.5 years?
Common sense would dictate that Honda will sell the Type R for at least 4 production years, minimum.
Remember, Honda's in the business of making money, and believe me they make a lot of profit on each Type R they sell.
To put things in perspective, Honda sells the Type R in Canada for over $42,000......for a bloody Honda Civic.
Obviously this gent is talking out of his left ass cheek, or it might be his right.
I'm not a gambling man, but I would put money on it that there will be a 2019 Civic Type R, unless Honda has thrown common sense completely out the window.
Gents......only time will tell.

The sonic gray is coming for 2019 , verified this 3 weeks ago with one of the largest honda dealers in the state. I am not going to name them, however i spoke to the manager and spoke to my local manager here in my state. They already have an order 2019 sonic gray to be built for fall.
The end of 2019 i hope we see the black edition, after that i am sure a AWD acura version prob costing 38-42k and will arrive sometime in 2020 to compete with the new Subaru STI since that engine and suspension is close to 10 years old . Also Since the type r is a global platform maybe it will never end production here in the united states as long as the sales are good.

This is just my speculation what might happen, however the 2019 sonic gray type r will be here in the early fall

Honda has already sold more FK8s than any other previous Type R model ever sold. It would be against the brand’s history, legacy, etc to wring out maximal profits and continue selling the FK8 after the demand has cooled and cars languish on lots for months like many of the competitors. I am merely speculating, but would be surprised if the FK8 lives on long after the buzz dies down and is surpassed in both performance and market demand by it’s rivals (ala S2000 and NSX).

What is the total amount sold to date?

I imagine they will do a model for 2019 and then a final edition as someone on here stated before. However it's not logical to think Honda will continue to pump these out at the same rate as they did initially for another 2 to 3 years. It's a niche market, and after a while Honda will have produced enough to somewhat satisfy the somewhat smaller market. Honda doesn't want to over produce these like they have done in the past with Civic Si's (2008 I think). So my prediction is that the initial availability when the 2017's came over and current 2018 production will be the most available they will be. After this next batch in production (which are still 2018's to my knowledge) we will more than likely see Honda slowing down on production rate for them. Then like the Focus RS, we will see some type of final edition. I personally think they will stop production when the hatchback goes through it's first refresh. But that's again just my opinion, and educated guess.

As others have stated, only time will tell tell.

How does a dealership get that many when there aren't even enough for each Honda dealer in the U.S. to have 1 each? If they haven't been selling the ones they get due to high ADM, why does Honda keep shipping them more just to let them rot? This is the kind of stuff that will ruin further production.

Since the latest R#s I see are in the 15,000s and everyone made has sold except for the latest sitting in dealerships. I would say about 15,000 have sold world wide.
I have R-16412 that I picked up last week. So numbers are getting up there
