Just spoke with my dealer. They are ordering the parts to arive Monday & scheduled to drop off my R Tuesday morning. Pretty straight forward & zero resistance. Thanks all for posting this info. I've just been waiting for the CEL to trip on this & happy to get it addressed proactively. Just curious, any idea if the repair invloves reflashing the ECU for any reason? Would like to avoid any issues with my KTuner flash, if possible.

So what if this happened to us already a while ago and we've taken it to the dealership to get fixed? They said they replaced a censor, etc and after they were done I haven't had the warning come on. Do we still need to take it back to be fixed based on this news?

wish I can just do the procedure myself.

Hate bringing my car to dealerships.
At times you will end up with more problems then you came in with. Every time I take my car to the dealership. I always end up missing some screws, bolts and plastic clips.

I thought it says on the first page via the bulletin that they need to check the VIN...meaning, they'll know if it needs to or not.

Check the 3rd reply on page 1...it's highlight in bright yellow

the procedure itself is easy. It says to remove and cap the coolant hose that run over the top of the valve cover, front pipe, intake, ecu, battery tray, remove harness and reinstall the new harness along with the revised hard line.

true lol. I have no trust in dealership personnel. There are people who look through your car for stuff, take your car for a joy ride and most probably hates their jobs and just doesn't care. Hard to find a dealership tech that will treat your car like their own.

Does this apply to Honda US only or is Canada also part of this? Anyone working at a canadian dealer can confirm this?

I just went to the dealership to attempt to get this issue repaired. The service advisor told me that if athe related CEL does not come on then they can’t just replace it if they feel like it. The CEL that is related to the harness must be lite before any work can be performed on it. The service guy told me that this is not a recall so it is not a must to replace unless it causes issues. I ended up taking a trip to the dealership for nothing. I currently have 11k miles on the car and no related CEL.

Easy per say, but it is actually decent work to remove all the harness and grounds, accessing some plugs are tricky, why it pays the track 4.1hrs.

No flashing of the ECU should be necessary either. If your harness was replaced previously then it should be done again. Harness part number is different and also the previous replacements didnt reposition the sensor amd change the vacuum tubes
Yeah for most people your right. I have years of mechanic experience doing much harder jobs so I guess it's not a huge deal to do lol. Either way if i want to get it done they won't let me do it myself and some tech at honda has to do it anyways...

I haven't gotten the CEL issue yet but want the revised pipes :(

is that right? I mean it makes sense i guess because it is a TSB and not a recall.

My dealership did not even ask me about a CEL. They just said they would order the parts & we scheduled a service appointment. Even though it's not a recall, cost should be covered 100% by Honda, correct? My dealership only has one tech that works on the CTR and there is one service manager that always helps me. He is a big CTR fanboy, so I got lucky there.

Go to a different dealer.

I just dropped my car off at Norm Reeves Honda Irvine for an oil change this morning. My service adviser immediately notified me of the Bulletin and asked if I can come back next week to have it replaced. I have no CEL light on at all.

I sent the original problem bulletin to my buddy at my dealer and he showed nothing for my car on the vin report. Mine was built in April 2017, delivered 10/28/17. #00236

Alright so I called 3 different dealers. I haven't had any issues with my car yet. My 2018 Type R is not on the list of affected vehicles, so I think it's only for 2017 Type R's however, one of the parts they are replacing is the 3 tubes and I have that, but they won't replace anything unless its listed as needed or causes a problem. All 3 gave the same answer, my car is not affected.

That’s what they said to me. Anybody know if norm reeves West Covina or Cerritos will fix it even if the CEL is not present?
