Anybody else have their fog light lens cracked?? I only drive on the freeway and paved roads and these rocks (I think) are relentless...

Any suggestions?

Should I just buy new aftermarket fog lights?

I had the same problem happen to be once before, probably only after a few months of owning the car. However, I do recall driving on a bridge and hearing a cracking noise, thus probably being a rock which smashed it.

I went to Honda and had to pay for them to replace it... They wouldn't let me pay for just 1 either. Looking back at it now, I probably could have gotten it done cheaper somewhere else or at least have kept the 2nd one i had to pay for...

Whatever you put on there, you may want to look at covering it with Lamin-X protective film. (don't go with cheap film, I've made that mistake before)

I think the Morimoto xB LED projector fog lights are by far the best available for the 10th gen Civic but they are not cheap.

I lost one at about 3000 miles to a rock. I replaced them with the Morimoto XB (one of my favorite mods ever lol) And you can definitely just buy one fog light, that sucks.

*edit : also the XB are polycarbonate and not glass, so they should be less likely to break.

They’re about half the cost of the Honda Access yellow fogs, though, so I’d say the Morimotos are an excellent value.

I got my first one within a month of owning it and my other one I noticed after washing my car last week.

I feel like every time I wash my car I see new scratches on it ): I guess that's the con of owning a black car.

Same thing happened to me. One cracked, one was destroyed. I bought these off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N3N3OIZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just for the actual foglights themselves. Waiting for warmer weather to install (front bumper has to come off).

But they're glass, so I suspect this will happen again, and I'm hesitant to put film on because I previously had put film on and it started burning in the middle. Looked real bad. If/when these crack, I'll probably go the Morimoto route for the polycarbonate lens.

Did you use actual Lamin-X?

Reviving this thread for a question

Is it possible to not remove the bumper to replace the housing?

From the technical documents I’ve seen, it’s just plastic retaining clips holding the black honeycomb trim in place, with front facing screws. I’d rather not take the whole front clip off, and I have 2 shattered lenses

Last year, I cracked the fog light on my 2016 EX-T sedan. Although the OEM housing units are glass, I opted to replace it with an OEM fog light housing because the parts are readily available and pretty affordable (about $40 for a new OEM fog light housing).

Replacing it at my go-to mechanic would have cost around $350 due to labor, so I decided to do it myself. I obtained Honda's instructions for installing fog lights on Civics equipped without fog lights and watched a few YouTube install videos. I attempted to replace the housing without removing the bumper, but it's not possible. You cannot access the fog light mounting screws without removing the entire front bumper. I tried going from underneath with the bumper still on, but there is no clearance for removing the entire housing. You cannot access some of the screws that hold the housing in place or remove the fake plastic vent trim. You cannot go from the front of the car and try to pop out the fake vents because those are held in place with screws.

That being said, I did eventually remove the front bumper to replace the fog light housing. I am not especially handy, but I do my own general maintenance like changing my oil and CVT fluid. The entire process for replacing the fog light housing took about 2.5 hours. It takes a lot patience to properly remove the front bumper without breaking any of the plastic clips. I also did not want to scratch any of the paint, so using painters tape to protect the finish is essential. In terms of tools, I purchased a clip removal tool for about $5 on Amazon. Just be careful and do it during the morning hours with a lot of day light. You do not want to start the process in the afternoon and then be struggling to see where the clips are when the sun goes down. Once you remove the bumper, replacing the fog light housing is pretty straight forward. Make sure you disconnect the wiring harness (on both sides) before you pull away the bumper because you do not want to rip those wires off. Also, be careful when you pop out the last clip holding the bumper, the entire bumper may drop to the ground (this is what happened in a YouTube video that I watched).

Reinstalling the bumper was quick and easy. Again, be patient and make sure that the clips are correctly aligned and snap onto place. Just make sure not to break any clips. If you're a clumsy individual, you may want to purchase some replacement clips ahead of time, so that you have them on hand.

I was really proud to be able to do the whole process myself (with the help of my dad who helped me bring the bumper down gently). But I would never want to do it again. It is very nerve wracking. To avoid shattering a fog light in the future, I purchased Lamin-X protective films to prevent cracks.

Good Luck.

Yep, both of mine were shattered; I bought the new foglight housings from Honda last week and plan to install them this week while on PTO. Going with the Lamin-X as well.
