Took more pics of mine the gap seems to be around the curved part but I'm pretty sure the tape will fill that in. The main areas that sit flat appear to be mostly flush and with tape should be fine and allow for the spoiler to be rather secure to the car.

I imagine the carbon one is a little more cantankerous then the regular non carbon spoiler... Carbon might be stronger but I've noticed in the past I've had more issues with it warping than anything else.

3m and urethane combo. Had a second set of hands, my daughter, helping out. Came out great.

That looks like it went on pretty well, I need to make sure I use the same method when I put mine on later :D

Where did you place the 3m tape exactly and silicone ? And how close to the edges for the tape? Did you do all sides? P.s. looks fantastic. Great install :)
-Thanks

Did you use that 3M window silicone you posted on here?

Someone on IG asked the same thing. Since I didn’t take any pictures of the way I did it I asked him to send me a picture of the bottom of his and I painted it on there very crudely.
(Disclaimer) given that the spoilers are not all exactly alike this method may or may not work for you....

Red = 3M tape / Yellow = 3M windo weld
The areas where I did not put any 3m tape are areas that didn’t fully touch the tailgate spoiler. Instead it sort of hovered above it. It might be different for you.

(Warning long post)

Hey guys I wanted to give an update on my install. I haven’t driven my car since the install, it’s been in the garage but I noticed that the tape was starting to detach itself on one of the corners from the spoiler. All of the other areas where I used the tape seemed ok.

Since I had plenty of the windo weld left I decided to use it along both corners of the spoiler before the other side gives way. I’m going to end up sealing the whole spoiler with the windo weld. This will also prevent water from getting in.

I recommend this method to anyone who has purchased the GAS spoiler.

You will need:
A few pairs of nitrile gloves
Masking tape
Goo gone
3m windo weld or (insert your choice of urethane) and caulking gun

First step is to mask the area try to get as close to the inside edges as possible.

Next use the 3m windo weld and gun and push a nice amount into the gap.

With the gloves on use the tip of your finger to smear the urethane into the gap, go over it a few times until it is smooth.

Carefully peel away the masking tape. If you happen to get some of the urethane on either spoiler or on a body panel use the goo gone and a microfiber cloth to wipe it off.

I hope this helps anyone who has the same issue I had with the tape. Let me know if you have any questions.

That sucks you had to do that, guess once I put mine on I will have to keep an extra eye on it. Last thing I want is a $400+ spoiler to go flying off my car on the road and be lost or worse hit another car. my add on spoiler I had on my CR-Z went on the same way and never had any issues..
