Good day Civicx!

I've always thought that the engine side covers should've come from the factory. I saw the OEM ones in the UK ages ago but just couldn't justify paying the prices they wanted for (2) pieces of plastic.

Eventually the good old aftermarket caught up and I finally bit the bullet and bought a set off eBay for $37 shipped from Hong Kong.

Took roughly 2.5 weeks to arrive. Not too shabby. Kind of funny the package says "this contains lithium batteries" lol.

Anyhow. The packaging was 'ok'. I did see a tear or two before opening and was concerned the plastic was scratched or damaged. Fortunately they were fine.

Came with (3) sizes of body clips. Covers used a combination of existing clips and 1-2 of the new ones. The existing OEM ones are the top (2) and the new clips provided are the bottom (3).

I did end up having to drill (1) 5/16 sized hole on the passenger side for (1) clip. The cover had an obvious hole intended for a clip, but the frame did not. This was not present on the driver side. The indentation was there...but not the hole. I suppose I could've drilled out the plastic cover and the frame but it didn't seem loose so I didn't bother.

Cleaned up the engine bay some before installing. Required a 10mm nut driver/socket, flat blade to remove existing clips and a 5/16 drill bit (and drill obviously). Super straight forward and took about 15 minutes.

Very happy with the end result.

Can you point out the place you had to drill a hole?

Was it one or two holes? I like this upgrade but not sure about drilling a hole in my 2 week old car!

It's on the passenger side. On the black bracket just behind the headlight.

For some reason the passenger side plastic cover had a thru hole. So it looked weird to me not to fill it. But then on the driver side plastic cover there is an indentation for another clip....but NO thru hole. I may go back and add it for the sake of uniformity/symmetry haha.

Hope these pics clarify things. Oh and to prevent surface rust, touch up the exposed metal that you drilled out.

Can you provide an ebay link to these??

Also does anyone know if these will fit the hatchback engine bay? I think the hatchback bay is similar or the same to the EX-T sedan but can't say for certain?

Cheers!

It appears that it may depend on the model Civic, if drilling is necessary. I also have these on my Coupe and I didn't have to drill that hole. I did have to drill the blank spot on the driver's side but that is for my hood dampers.

Installed them on my car as well, I did not have to drill any holes though.

Looks good! Considered one of those covers for the engine. Little too flashy for me. Maybe I can get one and change the color.

So your SI had the hole for 'extra' one on the passenger side?

I mean I didn't HAVE to drill the hole...but just seemed to make the most sense since that hole in the cover was there. Holds it more securely and looks "complete" with it.
