The GF had to get a rental car a few days ago and she rolled in with a VW Beetle. Don't really know anything about it other than it said turbo on the back. I took it for a ride around the block and found it interesting and the first time I'd driven a Bug.

Time wise I guess it was fast enough. The interior space was fairly roomy, especially the bubble roof gave lots of headroom. Ride was fine, ergonomics were better than expected.

As a comparison to my Si here's what I found... While a few very informal 0-60 runs on the back roads seemed to time pretty similar to the Si the Beetle felt dreadfully slow. The suspension was crazy floaty, like old school Continental floaty, I'd be nervous to go more than maybe 60-70 over some of these back roads thinking I may bounce right off. I didn't realize the Si felt so huggy and sticky. The ergonomics are something. There's a weird, tiny armrest, primarily for the driver, on the Beetle that was located better, and the door armrest was located better than the Si. It was comfy to use the steering wheel from the armrest, which I don't think is as comfy on the Si (or possible, I'll have to pay attention). Things are where you expect them, for the most part. All in all, I'm sticking with the Si. While I didn't dislike the Beetle as much as I expected (mostly from an ergonomic POV) it wasn't fun, really, at all.
