Here's my take. i kinda looked down on people who had civics that were not type r's but still had the red honda badge. i kinda gave it some thought and realized i'm in a very fortunate position in life that i can afford to get one and things lined up perfectly for that to happen. If i had bought a new car a year earlier, i don't think i'd be able to say that. now, if i did have any other civic, is adding a red badge something i'd want to do? And the answer is yeah probably. I'd like to think that people adding red badges aren't trying to fool anyone into thinking their car is a type r, nor do i think it dilutes the type r heritage or brand. if anything, it just shows how much love an owner has for their car, to put their own touch on it. if anything i would think it brings awareness to the brand. You don't see many red emblems on cars.

Dealerships adding red emblems though? That i am NOT cool with. Because it feels dirty and misleading and they are using the caché of the type r as a draw. It's almost bait and switch.

My co-worker just bought a dodge challenger and wants to get a specific hood that is normally available on a higher trim level. And he was telling that in the dodge community, there are people that are just rightly pissed off at people who do that sort of hood swap because "they have no right". i just shake my head. i just don't understand that kind of animosity.

tl;dr can't we all just get along?

if i had a white sport hatch, i'd totally do the red emblems. I love the look of red emblems on a white car.
They can hate on me all they want :headbang:

Yep, same here. I've been a tuner since the mid/late 90s. I've seen red badges on almost every Honda vehicle since then. It's a tasteful mod to their rides.

Agreed. And keep in mind this isn’t a dealership just adding red H badging, they’re adding the type R wing too. It’s not just any ol off the shelf wing, it’s the wing designed solely for the current CTR.

I remember in the late 90's early 2000's if you put a red H or A emblem on a non Type R car you were considered a poser. I guess that sort of died down a bit once the 8th gens came out.

I would disagree,

The red honda badge is only put on Honda vehicles that are given the type r label. if you can tell me a car in the history of honda or acura vehicles being sold anywhere in the world that came with a Red Honda badge without the type r badge I might change my mind what you said. The red badge only belongs on the type r , everything else you are just being a poser driving around in a honda with a red badge, especially putting the red caps on your rims. You are devaluing the brand what honda made and represents what a type r is really meant to be like.
Users post several photos and references.

If you revise your argument enough, you'll eventually be right

I guess i have to educated even type r owners

Based off the five-door Civic Hatchback platform arriving in U.S. showrooms any day now, the new Type R comes equipped with an arsenal of aerodynamic hardware and stylistic badassery not found on more plebeian Hondas. There’s a massive rear wing that look like Voltron’s paraglider, mounted high above a trio of exhaust pipes and an aggro rear fascia. The 20-inch black-and-red wheels sit beneath beefy fender flares, while up front, the traditional red Honda badge reserved for the carmaker’s R models sits between the slotted hood and the angry front fascia with its carbon-fiber splitter. A red accent line stretches around the car’s waterline, while the body comes clad in a brushed aluminum-like finish that Honda says won’t make it to the production car.

I guess dealers dont care as long as you buy accessories, and they do not care about devaluing the type r brand by building fake wanna be type r cars and putting them on the road.. I guess we need to put this dealer on the nice list for selling fake type r cars with red honda emblems and big wings, maybe then we will see future type r's go for MSRP
