Hi everyone, new member here but long time lurker....I bought my EX-T CVT Civic in August last year and am loving it so far. At first I was really impressed with the fuel economy, getting an average of 5.2L/100km (45.2MPG). Then winter came and I was getting around 6.7L/100km (35MPG) and sometimes down to 7.5L/100km (31MPG) - no problem, I thought, it's just the winter tires, cold weather and winter fuel hurting things.

Well now the warm weather is back, summer tires are back on, and my odometer reads 23,000km... and I am still seeing an average of 6.7L/100km.

It should be noted that I drive 90% highway, 85km/day and travel to visit family & cottage regularly which adds more regular highway kms on the weekends...

Is my fuel economy going to stay like this now? Is there something wrong? I just did the break service (schedule 9), tires are inflated to specified PSI, commute hasn't changed, all with regular fuel purchased from the same gas station.... Air filter seems fine...Anything else I should look for? I thought MPG was supposed to get better after break-in.

Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

Do you reset the trip every time? The least little short trip for me kills my mileage.

I have a 2016 EXT coupe, everything stock including tires... my fuel mileage stays pretty consistent from summer to winter, but because i do 75% of my driving in city stop and go traffic i usually only average about 27mpg (compared to my last 5 civics that averaged around 32 mixed driving). It's definitely the difference of having the turbo and my own heavy foot on the gas. There was about a month i was doing 90% highway driving and my average jumped up to 35mpg even with my aggressive driving, so i know the car is capable, i just don't try very hard (i even drive with Eco on 99% of the time)

I noticed on my last fill up that mine is down. Maybe it is the weather. I will wait for another fill up to see if it's just an anomaly.

What gas station do you fill up at?

Start putting gas from shell. I saw a big difference. I also started putting v power 91 octane saw a difference in power and maybe 5 % in gas saving. The lowest I got so far was 4.2 L per 100 km driving distance of 60 km average speed 88 km.

Or you could do an ECU reset by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins-1 hour and see if a relearn does anything for you.
