DIY: Clear side marker lamp housing swap

So is there any consensus on which markers are the best? I’m looking for smoked with amber bulbs.

Get the DEPO markers if they are available. I got the iJDMToy and while mine seem to be fine, there have been a fair number of people with sealing issues with them. They also were an absolute son of a gun to install, the fitment is perfect but getting the driver side clip to actually engage took some convincing. Getting the bulb in either marker may also require you to fiddle with the o-ring a bit as the fit is very very tight.

Have you had any trouble with water getting into your smoked lenses?
I'm putting in a set of what looks to be the exact same as the ones you have pictured above and I'm curious if I should silicone the seams and/or connection socket.

I recently have been battling moisture in 1 sidemarker. Clear off EBay. They say they are Honda Jdm. Pffff I doubt it.

Has anyone yet tried to seal the seams of the smoke or clear side marker lenses?

I really don't want have moisture get in there. I'm thinking of laying a thin bead of clear silicone caulking around the entire seam where the clear or smoke face plastic meets the rear housing plastic. My concern is whether or not to fill the hollow channel at the end of the assembly that runs diagonally up and down. It looks like it might be there to allow rain/water to run down and through it away from the interior housing but I can't he certain of its purpose.

I also found some uneven edges and a couple really rough tabs that I think we're left over from the factpry molding process. Some 220 grit sand paper did away with it just fine. There were a couple spots that were raised enough and rough enough to score and scratch the paint during install if they made contact with the it.

If you have added a sealent or any kind of waterproofing to your side marker lenses I'd really appreciate your findings.

Yep tried a few different sealers but all seem to crack and leak. My next try is plumbing pvc glue carefully applied in the seem.

Can I ask which ones you've tried that didn't work out?

I think I've found the fix for sealing the leaky lens seams! This little tool is awesome! Fine tip applicator similar to a whiteout pen tip but clear liquid and then the LED light cures it solid and fills the seams really well.
