Fitted the Dream Automotive suede gear gaiter / shift boot last weekend.

What a nice complementary piece for the interior! It matches the FK8 fabric and stitching perfectly, replacing the cheap looking stock sleeve that Honda missed...

Gives that added "luxury" touch to the center console.

that looks nice! how complicated was the swap?
Depends what you define difficult really haha. The process is simple but a bit time consuming as I wanted to take care not to break or scratch anything..! and removing the factory staples taking care not to stab yourself like I did . But the results just make it worthwhile, +15 Style points to the interior

I’d recommend using those special plastic spatula tools you can buy from any decent auto shop to remove the centre gear console sides (See this guys tutorial below that I followed)

It was quite a difficult one really. How do you make a commercial for tiny piece of fabric without it being boring to watch . We chose the designer/driver feel to it just to make some kind of quick narrative!

Thanks for the kind words

Says a gentleman living in Vancouver with an NSX, Porsche and MB . . . . If I had your money, I’d burn mine. Hahaha. ;)

I did this same thing this weekend and it looks amazing.

I removed the staples and sewed it to the plastic instead, using the original holes of the staples. I also used boxer glue to stick the suede back to the plastic to retain the original quality Honda put together on their implementation of it. I like the sewing better than the staples.

Something important is the most innocent looking zip tie. Honda used a zip tie with a head that’s very small and also has a smooth curve to it. They did that so that when you fold back the suede into the ring, the zip tie head doesn’t protrude over the suede causing the suede to wear prematurely on that spot.

I could not find an equivalent zip tie anywhere. So I used a Velcro zip tie and that worked perfectly. There was no doubt that the Velcro wouldn’t come off, but to take security a step further, I stitched the velcro onto itself on three spots. The final outcome was factory quality.
