I have been researching, finally bought one for my Type R and installing it my self tommorow. I also bought the T-harness (ax-dsp-hon2) I’m not sure if it fits but online it say civic 2016-2017 .I thought it went after the oem amp. I called tech support and apparently it goes in between the headunit and amp, so I have to get in behind the headunit. Metra told me that the headunit is what controls the eq/cutoff points. All the amp does it sends it to the speakers. I also replaced my center speaker with alpines new line a 4” s-s40. I am planning on upgrading the whole car at some point, I’m just taking my time.

Looking at the Axxess harness, I don't think it will work for the Type R. It has one proprietary SPDIF cable that runs from the head unit to the amp that sends all speaker and navigation signals through.

IMO, changing the center channel is not worth it. It's mainly used for voice for navigation. I have the left and right fronts over take the center so I don't even hear it when I'm listening to music. I have a DSP also that has time correction to delay the left to arrive at the same time as the right for my seating position.

Yea I found out the hard way that it’s not compatible with the amplified units. The alpine center changed the sound a bit, only the front tho.

What kind of dsp do you have? Now I’m looking to get one.

I have the alpine pxa-h800. Pricey but worth it in my opinion. You'll need the remote commander too if you don't have an alpine head unit.

I used the fix82 to flatten the output, then fiber into the h800. Sounds great

I’m confused so you cut the wires coming out the oem amplifier then feed it to the dsp? How much length did you leave to use? And did either of you run new wires or used the oem? If you could take a pic I’ll will greatly appreciate it for the team you know.

I didn't cut any wires, I spliced into them. It's ok because the speakers on the other end were removed.

I tapped into the wires at the factory amp and ran them where the fix82 is installed. Then I ran wires from the amp (also in the fake trunk) to the speakers in the door.

Did you run new wires to the speakers or use the oem?
I ran new wires to all the door speakers. I'd purchased 2 sets of Alpine SPR-60C component speakers. The tweeters go to an Alpine 5 channel amp (the fifth channel powers a JL 10W6) and the mid bass go to an Alpine 4 channel amp. I'd left the center and c-pillar speakers powered by the factory amp.

I have the mid/tweets in the doors powered by a 150X4 and 2 subs powered by a 1200.1 . Only those 6 speakers are playing, I cannot control any of the factory speakers with the processor so I cannot use them.
