Holy crap weather has been exceptionally warm in my neck of the woods and the shift knob can almost burn an imprint into my hand!

Never crossed my mind that a shiny aluminum shift knob can collect as much heat as it does. Almost a driving hazard in warm climates.

How do you folks deal with the heat? Driving gloves? New knob?

I've seen some interesting knob covers on here, and I've been meaning to ask where people get them, or how they make them (some look knit?). I really like the stock shift knob, and would like to keep it but also not freeze or burn my hands.

Subbing to this thread for those peeps to tell us the deets

Old white sunglasses bag works great, as does a baby sock. My old 350Z had a black leather knob with a metal square in the middle, that thing got so fucking hot it branded my goddamned hand once.

hmm okay, some simple ideas. Not the nicest looking but certainly better than being branded by your own car's knob! :)

My thermo meter in my car said 104 degrees the other day. My knob was very hot. I was tempted to pour a tiny bit of cold bottled water I had with me on my knob and the palm of my hand. I ultimately just shifted super quick by slapping the ball with my hand until the inside temperatures cooled off. Someone earlier mentioned an optional red leather knob. Is it easy to install and lineup?

that would be really nice option but that thing is pretty crazy expensive.

Looking for more reasonable options I guess.
I’ve seen some guys use the old leather wrapped knob from an Si, looks reasonably similar. I’m in agreement that I want to have one specific to the CTR though, either the stock one or the JDM one.
