What percentage is factory tint on a CRV or HRV? I might be old but does tint still bubble or Peel like it did in the 90's?

I've got a 3M branded tint on my car, 20%, that I've had since 2006. No bubbling what so ever. I think it's a non-issue now if you use a good film.

Since the factory tint on the civic is 70% and people are tinting 35% on the front that makes it 70 x .35 = 24.5% which is illegal in most states. I wonder if I have to tint the front with a 50% that would make it 70% x .50 = 35% which is legal in most states.

It's actually a minimum of 70%. Most people who measured it have reported actual findings of about 74-75% which would still put it around 26%. Luckily my state no longer requires inspection stations to check for tint and police are not supposed to pull you over for tint violations alone. I just had 35 front / 15 rear done on mine at my tint guy's recommendation. Not anticipating any problems, but you never know. I'll keep my receipt in the vehicle just in case.

35% in the front, 15 in the back. I forget the brand, but it's ceramic. Blends better than I was expecting. Initially I asked for 35/20.
