OK try this. By happenstance I fix my AA connection issue.
First Uninstall AA from your phone. Clear your blue tooth connect on your phone. Remove the phone from the bluetooth device list in the car info system. Turn off the car and restart.
Reconnect your phone via bluetooth.

Then plug your USB cable into the car jack
. Lastly, plug the USB into the phone.
And what do you know. . It is already installed on the phone. Follow the set up procedure on the phone and it works perfectly.
Neither Google or honda are aware this program is built into to the marshmallow already and when we install from the play store the android auto app. Is creates a conflict in the OS.
I tried it twice and it is that easy.. plug and play!!!
And ifor you leave your phone hooked up turn offor the car and then restart it will automatically reopen AA. Cheers

Yes. The temporary fix is to reboot - Hold down the Audio Power until the reboot dialog appears. Select yes, then wait up to 5 mins for the HU to reboot.
I have tried to reboot HU but nothing happens other than turning off the HU. I also tried the factory data reset and bluetooth still won't connect. It has been working fine, since I bought the car 2 weeks ago. Friday it just stopped. Is there something I may be over looking?

Hi, welcome to the CivicX forums. All the instructions on this site are related to the 10th Gen Civic, so you might want to look elsewhere for problems with your 2014.

Not sure if this will work on your 2014, but this happens to me once every few weeks, and I find rebooting the phone solves the problem each time. Rebooting the HU doesn't help. I don't think this means the problem is with the phone, but it does solve the problem.

Yeah I I was taking a shot. I joined a 9th gen forum but I have yet to find anything as closely related to my problem as this thread does.

Now I just feel silly. Worked the first try. Thanks

My Bluetooth worked fine until yesterday, now won't turn on at all. Did a quick search of the owner's manual for tips, no luck. Came here and bang, quick search with instruction on reboot. Trying it tonight after work.

Man, I love this forum. I've had my 2016 Civic since last June. I joined the forum about 4 months ago(?) as I was interested in putting a hitch for my bike rack on.

I had an issue with AA where it wouldn't even recognize that I plugged my phone in. Reboot didn't work, car off and on didn't work, and I really didn't want to to factory reset. I went into the settings of the HU and there was a section for paired devices and my phone was listed as disabled, I enabled it and no longer had any issues. I don't recall the menu steps to get there though.

Old thread but thanks for the info. This happened to me today (2018 Honda Civic EX Hatchback/Android S6) and I could not connect for anything. Reboot and all was well. It wasn't just a matter of not connecting. I could not turn on the bluetooth in the Civic. I could pick it to turn on but it would no actually turn on. Only after a reboot was I able to turn bluetooth on in the Civic and then it connected.

Here is what happens: I pair my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) with my 2016 Honda Civic EX. All is well, and the Android Auto works perfectly as well. Everything works like it should, and then TOTALLY Randomly, when I start up my car like I always do, the system will not connect to my already paired cell phone. Totally Random; there is ZERO pattern to this. The ONLY FIX is to do a Factory Data Reset, and then I re-pair my cell phone to the car and all is well again until the system doesn't connect my already paired phone again. Then I do another Factory Data Reset again! I have had the car for about 6 weeks, and I have done more than a dozen Factory Data Resets. The dealer has no idea. They have checked on software updates and have looked at the problem extensively. Please advise. Does anyone else out there have this happen?

If you don't have an EX or higher, this video helped me with deleting my phone to re-pair it to my head unit. I'm in a 2018 hatchback sport

2016 Civic Touring here. Love it, by the way!
My S6 worked fine, I had one reset to do. Just got an S8, I went through a half dozen cases where the phone didn't connect. In my case I restarted the phone the first 5 times, then remembered this thread. A system reset fixed it. No issues the past 6 weeks.

I occasionally have an issue with my device not connecting after turning on the vehicle. A couple of times I noticed in the HU Bluetooth settings that Bluetooth was set to off. After turning the setting to on it works fine again. A system reboot doesn't change the setting back to on if it has been set to off as it keeps whatever setting it has in memory. Not sure what is happening that causes it to change it's setting without any intervention, but this may help some who are having some difficulty even after numerous HU reboots.
