I've said this before on this forum that I wished that my Touring had the LX/Sport cluster meter because it gives a sense of 'premium' to it because it looks 3D whereas the digital cluster meter seems unrefined and just falls flat when you're looking at it. I know tastes differ but IMO to go with the whole sporty theme of the Civic in general, the LX/Sport cluster would have sufficed.

I don't know about anyone else but I pretty much just look at the MPG meter on my cluster meter with the occasional turbo indicator every once in a while. The GPS bothers me, idk why. Text? Nope. Music? Hardly functional at best lmao.

Most of the other things I can do with display unit.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm a big fan of the 7" gauges. Just *really* wish it were more customizable.
Me too.

The tach needle on my Touring is my biggest complaint. It's not the most prominent element in its section, but it should be. It's tiny, and although it's red, it matches the faded red background, so it's too difficult to see. I can't hear the revs of the engine very well (the Sport hatchback's exhaust is "sporty," sure, but it's pretty civilized and nowhere near as loud as the catback I had on my EP) so the minuscule tach needle is usually the only way I can see what the engine's doing.

Given the chance, I would either:
- Make the needle itself bolder and longer
- Remove or tone down the faded red background
- Make the tach a progressive bar like the S2000's (or maybe like the gas & temp gauges)

Mind you, it doesn't make me hate the car, but I just see it as a missed opportunity. Style over function in this case.

Guess I'm the one to disagree. The instrument panel is supposed to provide information, not entertainment. I like the font used in the digital display, very clean and easy to read at a glance. Which is the main point of the instruments. You are not playing a video game, you are driving.
I wholeheartedly agree!

Good point. I sometimes think that the tach needle is a bit hard to see against all the subtle reds in the dial. I think the sedan/coupe digital dials give a much better contrast with the red needle against the blue coloration.

Or perhaps it would also help if the red glow that trails the needle were bolder and brighter as well. And I too would absolutely LOVE an S2000 style bar tachometer!

Yeah, I think it'd be easier to see the red needle on a blue background.

My EP's dials were an off-white, but they contrasted with the needles no matter what, so it was never an issue.

I realize now that I'll also need to get used to the digital speedometer. I'd like to know what speed I'm going so I know how far I can downshift (even with the CVT). I suppose it's less of a problem because it's impossible to mis-shift the CVT, but still, I'd rather not just rapid-flick my way into the very top of 2nd when it'd be better to choose 3rd instead.

Just today on the drive home I actually turned the tachometer OFF. It was pretty surreal not seeing any kind of rev meter reference - kinda felt like an old school DX stripper model!
EDIT - I knew there was a point I was trying to make - it made the digital speedometer even larger, like 30% larger in the dash.

Sport Touring driver here. I really wish the display on the tach was sharper. The Efficiency gauge literally feels so cheap. As if I was driving some old BMW.

I like the font and style.

Only thing I wish was able to change the blue colour tones to red. To match the rest of the interior lighting and the 7inch display colour theme.

just up the polling rate on the speedometer, so i don't jump from 40km/h to 65km/h in a single change

It’s kept slower as a safety measure so it’s actually readable and not a blur.
I knew there was a reason for it, but couldn't quite figure out how to say it. Good, clear post.

I like the gauge style of the US market LX a lot better than that of our EX-T. If I could swap an LX cluster into our EX-T sedan, I'd do it.

in todays society, if Honda were to make it customizable people would be putting fonts or images that were unreadable and it would be a liability to Honda due to little jonnys first car that he customized the font and promptly crashed due to going over the speed limit in a turn allowing his parent to sue Honda since little jonny could never do no wrong in their eyes.
