would be great to get the Honda remote start system for my CTR... I live in Florida so I'll need this for summer lol
I've installed the OEM Honda accessory one. Works great and is really plug and play.

Has anyone been able to find the T-harness from Fortin or is it only available through distributors?
I bought my t-harness (key start) from eBay. I just googled the part number IIRC.

Thank you everyone for being active on this thread.

So, Here's what I've read from all the other posts

1. YES, it's possible for PTS(push-to-start) 6MT Civics can be used with the OEM remote for remote start using the 3Lock method.
This method is generally not recommended since you're restricted to the the small distance range of OEM remotes

Currently, there are 2 solutions for making this happen

Fortin EVO-ONE system with THAR-ONE-HON6 T-Harness, and the Flashlink Updater tool http://fortin.ca/en/vehicles/honda/civic/2018-push-to-start/
AND

Compustar Honda Remote Start System DC3 Vehicle-Specific Remote Starter (FT-DC3-S, ADS-THR-HA6/HA7)
https://www.compustar.com/systems/honda-remote-start-system#
Least expensive, and best, option is a Blade AL, of which handles all data options available

2. During the Takeover process in our vehicles, the engine will shut off, and need to be restarted. because not the Honda factory system. doesn't look like a simple work-around for us 6MT owners
This is a security feature, else it would allow anyone to jump in the car while started and drive off without having to have the immobilizer key fob
  • Granted, the Type R, so likely all Civic PTS MT vehicles, once started with the key fob in range, can be driven without the keyfob in the vehicle.
3. Every installer i've talked to around Calgary always wants to sell you a remote, even if you request that you don't want one or the extra cost...(sorry, little salty Canadian here, stereotypical apology)
That's because they know what they're doing... without an aftermarket remote, you're limited to the ~50ft range of the OEM key fob.
  • For example:
    • Base 1 button remote [R3] from CompuStar has an 800ft range (1 way)
    • G6 has a 1000ft range (1 way)
    • T9 has a 1000ft range (2 way)
    • 901 has a 1 mile range (2 way)
    • G15 has a 2 mile range (2 way)
    • T11 has a 3 mile range (2 way)
    • Drone has unlimited range, provided the vehicle is in an area with a cell tower (2 way)

I appreciate the information, as does the whole forum thread. Thank You, genuinely
i'm trying to get down to a single remote, with the simplest install in case of selling the vehicle, so using the Factory remote would be the best option for me. also, range is not a concern, as i need it only for Line-Of-Sight starting from my house to a detached garage

Why is the Blade AL better than the Evo-One and/or Compustar??

I'm on the hunt for the best RS option for my 6MT key-to-start Civic Hatchback and was thinking the Evo-One is sitting tops of the list but I'd love to hear arguments for the Blade AL.

Any opinions and help with making this decision is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

My biggest reason going with the Fortin Evo-one is the T-harness option. I was able to do the the complete install without cutting or splicing a single wire. I got my entire setup for 160 but I already had the flashlink. To buy a flashlink the total would be around 200, installed.

Simply put, CompuStar has ranked #1 as the best Alarm/Alarm + Remote Start/Remote Start company for well over a decade. Fortin is a Canadian company and does not carry/manufacture any remotes/antennas

CompuStar brains [at least the non-dealership types] are designed & manufactured to natively utilize iDataLink's Blade-AL/Blade-TB cartridges, of which tremendously simplifies the install (Blades install into the brain like a memory card).
  • For the Type R, the CompuStar Alarm/Remote Start brain requires 15 wires to be spliced, 5 for the brain, 10 for the Blade.
    • Unfortunately, due to it being a PTS, with data controlling the starter, the starter's wire for the Alarm's starter kill must be gotten at the Under-Hood FB Relay Control module (Connector A2 [Red 14ga]), so two wires must be brought through the firewall (super simple due to the boot's position directly behind the battery - 1/8" diameter rod lubed with dish soap goes through in a few seconds).
  • For Remote Start only, it would likely be ~5 - 7 wires, but I'd have to check the schematics.
  • Alarm & Remote Start brains have 30 POCs [Programmable Option Controls] and 19 PICs [Programmable Input Channels], so there's a ton of additional things that can be controlled via the remotes, such as auto rolling down windows to a preset height, popping the hatch, turning on a custom audio setup, turning on custom lighting, etc. If you can add it to the vehicle's electrical system, it can be controlled by the Alarm & Remote Start brain via CompuStar's remotes (of which each button has multiple uses).
    • This is on top of the 73 additional options that can be set via the brain's option controls.
CompuStar also designs and manufactures their own remotes and antennas, of which have been the best on the market for over a decade, and everything, except the remote, is lifetime warrantied (incl. installation) through any CompuStar dealer.

Thanks for the info! Very informative and much appreciated.

I realize this thread is for Push-to-Start owners and I'm out of my neighbourhood but my 2018 Civic Hatchback is Key-to-Start and of the Canadian variety.
I like that Fortin is Canadian as I am, but I'm not opposed to siding with another company if they are best suited to my needs.
Having an additional fob with greater range is a nice feature but I'm not dead set on needing that as my remote start range will be 95% in line of sight and under 50 feet.

If you were me, which remote starter would you get and would you have it professionally installed or DIY'it?? I have modest means and don't need the flashiest of flashy flashers..altho starting my car from around the globe using a cell tower is an absolute cool and the gang option for some but not what I'm after; just for reference.

Thanks in advance!

If you want the least expensive option and do not want an additional key fob, Fortin would likely be recommended, as CompuStar won't warranty anything installed by a non-CompuStar dealer.
  • Generally speaking, it's unlikely one will find a CompuStar dealer that will do a remote start install for less than $350 (includes brain, Blade AL, Prime R3 1BAM remote & antenna, and installation), with most likely being north of $400
If you wanted to install it yourself, and are not familiar with soldering (or don't want to spend the ~1.5 - 2 hours doing the install), Fortin would likely suit you better due to the T-Harness multiple users have mentioned above.

If you have the ~$350 to spare, CompuStar is one of the best investments you can make if you want a Remote Start or Alarm & Remote Start (+$100), due to their technologies in the brain, as well as their remote options (1-way & 2-way, which includes the Drone).
  • If you switch cars in the future, it can likely be removed and reinstalled into the new vehicle, provided iDataLink has broken the immobilizer encryption keys (certain manufacturers are notorious for taking years to break, but most are cracked either by the time the vehicle is released to market or within a few months of RTM).
  • If there's ever an issue, it's troubleshooted for free by any CompuStar dealer across North America, and should anything besides the remote need to be replaced, it's done for free (includes the installation of the wiring for a new brain if it's an obsolete model).

This may be true, however they are compatible with other antenna/remotes for longer range including CompuStar. Evo-one is compatible with DroneMobile which would allow for a remote start from your cell phone. Fortin does have some programmable options. IMO where they exceed is the install, it is almost plug and play.

Just FIY for those running with Fortin bypasses, the orange and orange/black wires on the 24-pin connectors will raise and lower the windows when pulsed to ground - this is undocumented AFAIK in the cheat sheets but they don't seem to cover window automation for any of these sheets AFAIK. I don't know how you'd use this with an EVO-ONE, but if you're running with a conventional alarm/EVO-ALL-type setup, you can assign these to AUX channels (or one AUX and "comfort closure with single pulse" ) and negate the need for any additional hardware or running wires into the doors. You can't do this through data, you have to hard-wire these outputs from the alarm brain to the EVO.

They don't vent the windows, but go all the way up, or all the way down.
