IAT values too high?

Is this an abnormally high IAT for a stock car?

Hello all,

I searched a lot for a similar thread dedicated to IAT but cound not find it. The attached picture is after a 5 - minutes enthusiastic driving of my Civic 1.5 T Sport HB CVT. Please do not let the presence of a Ktuner device mislead you, the car is completely stock right now, factory tune, factory intake, factory intercooler, factory exhaust... absolutely no mods. Ambient temperature is around 20 degrees celcius (68 degrees fahrenheit) and this is what we get. IAT 2 values are also very close. Is that normal?

Is this measured when standing still or when driving?

At 68 degrees ambient I'd say thats pretty high. But if the car sits at intersections or is in city traffic a lot then those temps are probably closer to accurate. Or if the car was sitting when you measured it.
Stock intake?

I wish I could somehow read my IAT, I have tried several apps and OBDII dongles and none of them pick it up, I have no plans to tune the car and don’t see any point just to buy a KTuner to see the pids I want to monitor.....

I was driving in heavy traffic for about an hour the other day and I noticed that my IAT was at 68degC while my ECT was at 93degC. After I got out of the traffic jam and started driving consistently at higher speeds, the IAT went back down to 32degC. I have the stock intake and a Ktuner to see these values and I was wondering what are acceptable IAT and ECT temps. When should I be worried that my ECT or IAT have gone too high? Is there any danger of the IAT getting too high during heavy traffic that it will break something in the car internals?

150 is too high, but the car is stock, so this is probably normal.

Start heat wrapping things: turbo blanket, heat wrap down pipe, heat foil on intake crossover pipe, etc.

High IATs decrease horsepower because when the air is hot it is less dense.

Thanks for the reply! I thought something was wrong with those temps, but you're saying that with a stock intake, those temps are normal? I used to have the PRL CAI installed and I never saw the IAT get that high. I'll definitely be adding more heat insulation to those parts. Its pretty scary to see the IAT rise that high when I'm stuck in seemingly endless traffic.

That's a cool name by the way! I'm a developer myself :)

It was the first error I got when I was learning to program in VB6 and I was like WTF?? I've used it ever since.

BTW, I'm not entirely sure what stock IATs look like.

I know that seeing 120's on modded cars isn't out of the ordinary, and we know that the chassis has airflow issues from the heat soak on the R's.

Why don't you have both IAT's displayed on the KTuner? Also, you should have your K Count and K Control up to see if this is causing issues there.

Here is a pic of highway temps, idle temps for IAT1 are about 113 and at idle IAT2 matches IAT1 very closely
