No offense but it’s kind of ridiculous that a few chips on the bottom of the bumper mean you can’t enjoy the vehicle anymore lol to each his own though

I love the new accord but it’s power band sucks literally. Not something I would want. That’s the deal breaker for me. The car just falls on its face.
Until you add Hondata and then its making more torque than an R.

Nah buddy, you're mistaking what happened to his car. It was vandalized in a road rage incident.

Holy crap you’re right. My apologies, I confused this thread with this other one I saw that hit some plastic on the highway.

Still doesn’t change the power curve. It’s sweet but not my taste. I prefer to have the old Si curve from the 8th & 9th gen with a turbo of course. I don’t like having the all power down low then have it fall on its face when you get up in the rpms. That takes away the fun factor. Also not a ideal power curve if you are going to do rolls.

Looks to me like it maintains the power all through the midrange and keeps it until redline for the most part. It’s not a big drop off like the Si does. Most reviews I’ve seen have stated that the power keeps going all the way to redline on the accord

I vote you trade it in for another Si. IMO, the Accord is a better looking car but less distinctive. That's what I love about the 10th gen Civic. Nothing out there really looks like it. Save money, get better MPG's, own a better driver's car. Yes, it's less refined, but refined is code for dulling your senses. If that's what you're looking for, then so be it. I have a BMW 540i (the old 540i) when I want to be pampered yet feel like a boss.

Why don’t you just use your insurance and have it repaired it could’ve been fixed long ago

Last year, I bought one of the first few hundred Civic Si's made and had to drive 8 hours to get it. I enjoyed it for 5-1/2 months until the front, passenger door and roof rail were vandalized at less than 6,000 miles. For the last four months, it has sat in my garage without being driven while I attempt to recover damages for repairs, diminution of value, and other losses from the responsible party. I'm confident this will happen, but the process may take many more months.

I have considered many options while the car has been sitting. No matter which option I choose, the car must first be repaired. I could have filed a claim with my insurance company, but I don't want a claim on my insurance even though I'm not at fault. I could have paid out of pocket for repairs earlier, but I was hoping to avoid that.

1. Have the damage repaired and continue driving it. I paid for a new vehicle - not one that had been repaired. Every time I look at the car, I associate it with this whole ordeal. I don't want to drive a damaged and repaired car - I just want it gone.

2. Have the damage repaired and trade it for another Civic Si. I typically don't buy the same vehicle twice in a row (Ridgeline excepted). Unfortunately, my preferred dealers haven't had any Civic Si's in a while. Plus, the refreshed 2019's will be here in the coming months, so I'd rather not buy a 2018 this late.

3. Have the damage repaired and sell it. I guess there's that, but I like having two vehicles.

4. Have the damage repaired and trade it for something else. This is what I'm leaning towards. Specifically, I'm considering an Accord Sport 2.0T, but a 10AT instead of a 6MT.

Wait... WHAT? The whole reason I bought a Civic Si in the first place is because I wanted something I could shift myself that was economical and fun to drive. I've even discussed why the Civic Si is a better value than the Accord Sport 2.0T, although those comparisons were with the 6MT version of the Accord.

The 10AT version changes things a bit. It's priced the same as the 6MT, yet it's significantly faster. It also adds remote start along with low-speed follow to the adaptive cruise control. You lose the adaptive dampers in the Accord along with the LSD, the audio system isn't as powerful, and the fuel economy is lower, although it is tuned for regular instead of premium so fuel costs are essentially the same. The saving grace for the 10AT is the paddle shifters that allow you to hold a gear indefinitely in sport mode.

Perhaps I'll get the Civic Si repaired and fall in love with it all over again, but for now it continues to be a thorn in my side. At this point, I'd rather see what the 2019 Civic Si offers or put another Accord in my garage for a while. The Civic Si's trade-in value is strong and it's a buyer's market for the Accord right now due to slow sales and excess inventory along with 1.9% financing.

Understand where you're coming from. I recently got light hail damage and i think about getting rid of it everyday now. LOL. The Accord EX-L has the same sound system. Why not get that one?

Earlier this week, I pushed an Accord 2.0T, Civic Type R, and dozens of other vehicles to their limits around a track which helped me to rethink some previous opinions and observations.

Here are some thoughts...

1. Honda's Civic Si, Civic Type R, and Accord Sport 2.0T are all impressive vehicles in their respective categories with more overlap than I expected.

2. I'm no longer convinced that the lack of an LSD in the Accord is a real-world issue. I found no significant issues with torque steer or traction - it hooked up really well. For what is primarily a family sedan, the Accord's ability to hold its on on a racetrack with vehicles costing thousands more was nothing short of impressive. Good on Honda. The Accord's ability to chirp the front tires in the first three out of ten gears was childishly entertaining. :)

3. I'm now more receptive to owning a VW Golf GTI or Golf R.

4. The 707 HP Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are both insane and brutal. And, I liked them. :)

5. There are lots of really, really good vehicles out there now from all different brands.

6. The ride and handling of the Honda Clarity plug-in hybrid took me by surprise. I never though I'd use the word "sporty" to describe any hybrid.

7. It's sensual oddity to hear a rumbling V8 and a crackling exhaust from a Lexus.

Why don’t you just use your insurance and have it repaired it could’ve been fixed long ago
See the second paragraph from my post you quoted...

I'm not sure it's worth $1,660 to me for HomeLink, autodim mirror, power passenger's seat, driver's seat memory, leather, and a "subwoofer". I also don't care for the EX-L's wheels or bright chrome grille - changing those things would add even more to the price. I also prefer the Sport's wheels, aluminum pedals, darker grill, and firmer springs/stabilizer tuning.

So what are your instincts telling you as far as where you might end up? And do you think you will stray from Honda?

And also can you explain the above quote as one of the few people I believe who have driven all three vehicles you mentioned?

I had the Civic repaired last week and picked it up and drove it for the first time in over four months this evening. I was reminded of how sharp the car looks and how well it drives, but I can't disassociate it with the cause of the damage. I still have my mind set on an Accord Sport 2.0T 10AT.

My closest dealer refused my offer this evening during the last two hours of this month. My "preferred" dealer where my neighbor is the manager has one, but the windows were already tinted with "cheap" tint. I submitted my offer to a third dealer this evening, but they were already closed. My offer may change if there are new incentives beginning tomorrow.

Sometimes I read what I wrote then wonder what I meant. This is one of those times. I think what I meant is that after driving each of them, I had a smile on my face and thought to myself, "I'm impressed." To say it another way, even after driving the Type R, I didn't think the Civic Si was "slow and worthless" or that the Accord Sport 2.0T was "like a sofa with a Type R engine".

False start. I took photos of the car yesterday to send to the third dealer. While previewing them to attach to an email, my jaw hit the floor and my eyes popped out. The door that was damaged and replaced was a much darker red than the rest of the car! I was so busy looking at the car close-up for the slightest hint of a repair that I didn't step back to look at the whole car (ever hear the phrase, "can't see the forest for the trees"?) The quality of the repair was so good that neither I nor my brother could see any evidence of a repair job (and we're both VERY picky).

The body shop (who I've used before and have been very pleased with) missed this during their inspections as well. They couldn't apologize enough. At first, it appeared as though the paint color was off and they failed to blend into the adjacent panels. It turns out that they used a different colored sealer on the replacement door which showed through the paint making only the door appear darker which made it look like they skipped some steps. The painter who did the job always take photos of his work along the way and sure enough there was photographic evidence that they did indeed blend into adjacent panels even though it didn't look like it. They're going to sand it back down and start over.

Terrible luck with that car, I can see why you want to get rid of it.
