Does anybody by any chance have any insider knowledge they would be willing to share on when the Rallye Red CTRs will be in Canada. I have a RR sport Touring and really want the RR CTR but don’t want to wait until next spring. My option would be to wait an unknown amount of time, or get a black CTR and wrap it, any information or opinions welcome.

I thought I heard (maybe from the dealer I have a downpayment with) that Red ones wouldn't start showing up until April. I hate that we got black as it's the worst color and I can say that as I'm driving a black Golf R.

There are some beautiful looking matte metallic reds that I really like, but that’s money that could be spent on mods, buutttt also would be OEM paint protection.

Just because black is hard to maintain and keep clean?

Just to set things straight color is a matter of personal preference so if anyone here likes black I'm not putting down their choice. In regards to your question partially that it's a pain in the ass to keep clean and partially because it's not one of my favorite colors in the first place. On this car black actually has some advantages in that it hides the black honeycomb plastic better but it's just not a color I like enough to own it on back to back cars. I had a black EVO X as well and always longed for the other colors just as I do with my Golf R but it just so happened that at the most opportune time to purchase both cars only black was available. Since there's going to be no good deals on the Type R I may as well get a color I want.

Fair enough. I settled for Black, put a deposit, it’s available and if all goes well Sat I’ll have delivery sometime next week. I’ve decided im gonna wrap it some kind of red. Black will look better in the door jambs and sills than white, I protect the OEM paint, and I get the car ASAP to enjoy all summer.

Don't know what the USD to CAD exchange rate is right now, but you could always import a US-market red CTR back to Canada. Both markets' vehicles meet the same safety and emissions standards. Though if I was in Canada, I'd be disappointed at the features that are missing in the US-spec CTR compared to the Canuck version.

Feel like it’s too much effort, and yeah would miss out on some features.

What the difference between the U.S spec and CAN spec ?

Beside the TPMS , I don't see what are the option that we don't have up here

Canada cars are actually better equipped. The only thing y'all are missing is TPMS but you guys get the lane watch and wireless Qi charger and one or two other things I can't remember that are either optional or not available in the US.

At a practical level, you can't with the CTR. In either direction.
I've gone through the import process with a Skyline, the easiest legal method of importing a vehicle is one from Canada, especially if it's a car that was made for both markets. I don't know what steps to take to bring a US vehicle to Canada but to bring a Canadian market vehicle to the States that's mechanically identical to one sold here, all you need is a letter from the manufacturer stating that it meets US crash safety and emissions standards. Honda used to do that for people bringing Integra Type R's from Canada back to the US so they'll probably do the same for the Civic Type R.

Honda (and Acura) have a policy of not issuing letters of compliance for recent production vehicles unless the person is immigrating to the other country. In addition, they have deliberately spec'd the Type R (and all CivicX AFAIK) so a USA model does not meet Canadian MoT standards and a Canadian model does not meet USA DOT/NHTSA. (However, emissions standards are common). The differences are probably trivial to address as they appear to be pretty much all software; however you still can't get a letter of compliance so it is moot.
You know this for sure? Have you tried? If so, I stand corrected.
