The kind folks at @ACUITY sent me a pre-production accelerater pedal relocation bracket to make 100% sure that it fits in the Type R. Mind you, the bracket isn't really needed on the Type R thanks to its rev-matching capability. However, if you want to heel-toe, then you might find the Type R gas and brake pedals too far apart. I've had the same issue with the Si - smooth single-clutch downshifts seem to demand either clown shoes or a twisted ankle ...

First up, the unboxing, because people on the Internet like unboxing stuff and posting it on YouTube. Three minutes of your life:

Second, the install. I don't have fancy video editing software, so this is real-time. It took me six minutes to install this bracket, albeit with some heavy breathing:
ETA: The Acuity instructions include removing the electrical cable to the throttle, which is wise. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B456gOYKbqR2U2JFQXJSWjhnWHc/view?usp=sharing

Finally, a quick view of the finished product, complete with my size 9.5(USA) foot:

Initial static impressions are good. This weekend I'll be testing the bracket to see which position I like best and get used to the higher gas pedal.

FYI, Acuity expects to release the pedal bracket in the next couple of weeks.

Awesome! I'll definitely be getting one of these. Thanks in advance to @ACUITY and thank you for the video!

I'm not sure why they insist on the purple motif for something (presumably) specifically for Civics, but hey it's outta sight anyway.

Thanks for the video! This same method can pretty much be applied to ANY manual car.
I noticed the same thing in racing videos. The heel is pretty much always lined up with the gas pedal.
Not the center between both pedals.

To be honest, I find the position in the video un-natural in most production cars.

In many/most racing cars (as opposed to modified production cars) and a few (modern) production cars, the pedals pivot from the bottom. In these situations, I find the method with the heel lined up with the gas pedal natural, as the heel never moves.

If one keeps the heel on the floor with the CivicX layout, then the heel gets dragged/lifted as the brake pedal gets applied (or your foot slips on the brake). One can get used to this, but I have never been able to.

---<snip>---

While I'm here, an update on the Acuity piece. As a disclaimer, I never heel-toe on the street.

My fore-aft seating adjustment is based on using my left foot on the dead pedal as a brace. This means that so I sit closer to the pedals than most folks. I initially tried position B and found it raised the pedal too high for me. Thus, I switched to position C.

The bracket moves the gas pedal about 15mm closer to the brake pedal. I would have liked the two pedals to be even closer, as Nomex racing shoes tend to be quite narrow in comparison to normal shoes.

Trivia: Heel-toe is a misnomer, and comes from the days when the gas pedal was in the middle - which was the standard layout in old open-wheel race cars.

First one I tried was B, and that was way too high for me. C seems to be just right. I haven't had a lot of dual pedal action since the install, but what little I've had is satisfying! Great product, @ACUITY!

My heel toe in my s2000 is just like that of the s2000 prototype in Nurburgring video.

I'm actually surprised people needed to modify the s2000 pedal to better heel toe.

I can understand if someone wants to heel toe while street driving and the pedals aren't on the same level... Which usually requires heavy brake pressure to do heel toe properly... Where daily driving will rarely achieve heavy brake pedal pressure

I pretty much ordered the full monty from Acuity this week - the first to arrive was the Throttle Pedal Spacer. I couldn't stand how far away the pedals were. And even with size 15 shoes, I still couldn't make it work. Spacer installed - set to B - it's heavenly.

I just ordered this from their Amazon store (Amazon gift cards) because of all the reviews I have seen here, and hating the factory height for the pedal. I can't wait until I install it.

Installed the pedal spacer last evening in the C position and I think it's a big improvement, mostly from just moving the pedal laterally closer to the brake. This is my first MT car and I've only been driving it for a few weeks, so I'm sure my technique needs refinement. Prior to the spacer, I had to keep my size 10 foot aligned more with the accelerator. I struggled, especially with some shoes, to have a good feel for my foot being on the brake but still being able to blip the gas. Now with the pedals much closer I think I could use the same technique, just much easier, or have my foot more aligned w/ the brake and roll it onto the accelerator. Took before/after videos:
