Any speculation if the Civic Type R's supplies will ever meet up with demands and price will drop down to MSRP (or less)? If it ever will...how much longer? 6 more months, 1 year, 2 years? Or is this a limited production so demand will always >>>>> supplies?

Your guess is as good as everyone else's. Until Honda says anything, no one knows for sure.

....until the 2019's come out.
There are a whole bunch of dealers still demanding $40K for new (or low mileage) 2017's. One poster said he recently got $35K for trading in his 2017 CTR. So the release of 2019 might not have as much effect as we might expect.

My best connection for MSRP CTR's told me (seriously? half-jokingly?) that his regional rep told him 'sell more Insights and you can have another Type R.' ...... so they sold 2 Insights. Maybe they can get another Type R. As long as it isn't blue, I'll share it on here and look for a buyer.

Other dealerships around me still have them sitting...but as soon as spring happens they'll start seeing interest even at $5k or $10k over. I'll be following.... I'm the guy that (trolls!) cruises through the parking lots of all the dealerships that wouldn't sell me an MSRP Type R back in June/July. Sometimes I stop in and talk to the sales guys about whatever inventory they have and remark on how long they've been sitting on it at whatever ADM they're asking.

(hes and a@@).... i have two people in line waiting for a 2018 Type R, and we that are honest can't get another... hope we do so we can make some one happy. Do you ship?

This is the frustrating part about this whole mess. You are selling at MSRP and have people waiting...not because CTR's aren't available but because you are selling at the price that people want them at. Why can't Honda redirect Allocation? Why can't a dealer pickup the phone and say they have 2 deals signed and need 2 CTR's sent to it. It's crazy.

I visited several times local Honda dealerships in Luxembourg EU and not a word of "hurry up get them while they last". I was even asked by a dealership to consider them in 2019 if I'll decide to purchase. If they'll produce them for here I can't think why not bringing them over there.
I don't know who maintains this "OMG sold out everywhere, hyper limited" psychosis in North America. Completely sick masterminds playing this game on people.

Believe it or not this has been happening, but not in a way that would benefit buyers. From talking to dealerships in the San Francisco area I learned that some dealerships (1 in particular located near San Jose) are purchasing cars from dealerships in the Midwest and then bringing them to their dealerships to sell them at markup. I doubt Honda has any control of it and unfortunately its one of those "free market" things. Prior to purchasing my CTR, the San Jose salesperson said they had 2-3 CTRs in transit that they purchased from other dealersips. When they did show up San Jose was asking minimum $40K, back in Dec 2017. They weren't interested in $39K cash - wouldn't even call me back or reply when I told them I could drive sameday and purchase.

So this was a dealer to dealer transfer? If it was purchased directly wouldn't it be considered a used car? This is insane.

I asked the same thing. It wasn't a transfer but instead a sale and purchase from one Honda dealer to another and you're right, they said that because of the sale and purchase they could not sell the car as the original owner and therefore had to sell them as certified pre-owned. But they defended their position saying something to the effect of, "The car will still have the same miles as a new car "less than 25 or something" and "the warranty we're offering is actually BETTER than a new car warranty." I honestly felt like my offer of $39K was a joke to them.

But in the end it worked out. The Bay Area dealers (namely the san jose dealer) pissed me off for about a week and then encouraged me to reach out to the suburbs. I found Stockton Honda and they allowed me to drive 2 hours to pick up my preferred color brand new 2018 at $38K. So eff San Jose.

As I understand it, the same concept is happening with F150 Raptors. The are being acquired from dealerships in the Midwest (probably North also) and being brought to Texas. They are selling at full-price + cost of getting the vehicles. If I remember, the markup over invoice is over 5500$.

Yes Raptors are still selling with ADM’s. If you look at Grapevine Ford in Grapevine, TX they are still asking for a 15K ADM. I think they have one stock Raptor for $87,000!! I shopped for my Raptor in Dec of last year. They wouldn’t even let me open up a Raptor without putting together numbers and a credit application. The next day, I found the Raptor I wanted and paid below MSRP. Grapevine Ford is still calling me three months after I already bought my Raptor. I hate stealerships like these.

We have asked three dealerships to do what we call dealer trade ,. Which is not new and we do this when a customer wants a specific trim we don’t have we will do a dealer trade ,. Martin Honda ( and I’m putting them on blast) has a 2017 n a 2018 still sitting on there lot ,. No one here will pay adm and many of us in Delaware won’t support it. Most of all my type r buys have been from out of state ,. Anyway we asked matin to dealer trade the type r to us and they will not, they won’t even sell it to us because they want mark up,. Now we can’t get anymore ,. I’m hopping we do and if we do,I will immediately post,. . Someone here asked if we ship unfortunately no, the buyer by law has to come to the dealership and sign the contract and it’s up to you to transport the car back to ur home as many do,. Vit viper had to drive his home , and a few others that actually wrecked on there way home , if I had the power I would ship lol. But this makes me mad that we are an honest non commission base dealership and can’t get anymore ,. Normally when we sell them another one is on its way,. We believe and know that what ever Type r is on the docks ( shipping docs) have already been assigned to dealerships ,. I’m hoping soon Honda will send more
