I hate using the brush at car washes so I like to keep a wash mit in my car... hose the car down with soap.... put the wash mit on, .....you get the idea...

The challenge is how to store that wet wash mit? Does anyone else do this and have a water tight, air tight container they can recommend? I dont want to remove the wash mit from my car... i'm too likely to forget it when i go to the car wash :p

chemical guys makes a screw on bucket with lid.

Also you don't want to store a wet towel/mit. It will get moldy if you don't dry it out.

You may want to look into a waterless rinse product for your car wash instead

I used a mitt for years.

I actually got a big package of those chemical guys microfiber cloths. Very thick. Washable. Gentle on the finish. I use that Optinum No Rinse wash and wax and it really works well. If there's a lot of heavy dirt on the back or on the fenders where the tires kick it up... I just spray it off before I start w/the wiping. Nice soft dry and clean clothes to use each time.

I'd never washed a car like that before I got the Civic but I'm hooked. Very easy to do with minimal water usage w/o any water spots because... well... you're not leaving any.

If you want to stick with your idea to keep a mitt or cloths in your car... I'd just wash/dry it in your laundry... making sure you *don't* use fabric softener. You don't want any residue to leave a film on the car. This will also ensure any dirt gets washed out of the thing you're going to use so you won't grind dirt into the finish.
