There is an option to do "Your stock ECU cloned to a brand new spare ECU (+$625.00)". Does that mean the stock ECU would not be modified and we can swap ECU? Or still, need to map the ECU to the immobilizer at the dealership when going back to stock?
From what I read, I think they're going to clone your stock ECU to a clone ECU, then modify/jailbreak your stock ECU. So then your clone ECU would have your stock info on it.

That ECU spare/swap is rather impressive, if a little costly due to needing a spare ECU to clone to.

I'm personally not sold on buying a ECU jailbreak/tune yet, but when I do get the mod bug I'll be excited to see what Hondata and others bring to the table later for additional options.

yes please let me know. I've asked them few months back and told me to get back to them closer to release date.

Do i really have to ship an ecu out 3 miles?

Ok, so an update from Hondata (Carroll @ x106)
She said that we have to drop off the ECU after thursday this week (so after 3/22/18) and it's first come first serve basis. The first come first serve is based on your purchase date for the jailbreak (https://www.hondata.com/jailbreak) and not when you drop it off. You will need your receipt of the purchase and the form that is located on that shopping page when you drop off your ECU. Also another option is if you want to drop it off and have them mail it to you when they're done but you have to pay for shipping. Also IMPORTANT: I asked about same-day and they said no so when you drop it off don't expect to be waiting there to get it back, you have to wait a couple of days (hopefully not more than a week). This is all the information that I could get.

great. Thank you. You saved me the hassle of having to call lol.
I live so close that it really doesn't matter to me if it's a different day pick up. I personally don't have many great experiences with shipping companies so I'd rather do a drop off/pick up so this is great.

I interpreted it as the clone would receive the jailbreak and the stock would stay unaltered. I'm not sure it matters...perhaps there is a database that has an identification for the ECU.

For what it's worth, on the SS forum GM service people stated that GM could absolutely tell if the ECU had been altered and then returned to stock settings.

I would be interested in a clone but it is 625$ plus the 250$. I'm not sure if it is worth it.

For those going forward now, how are you packaging the ECU for shipment? Are you getting the clone ECU also?

The $875 for the jailbreak and maintaining a pristine factory ECU is not a bad price. The MoTec setup from Vit Viper (https://vittuned.com/motec-m1-license-honda-civic-typer.html) *starts* at $4,600, and you can easily spend over $7K with add-ons. Sort of puts in perspective the extra $625 for the spare Bosch unit.

So, I already purchased the ECU unlock and shipped it to #Hondata, I did not put it in any special packaging, it was in a 10”x6” box and about 2” deep perfect fit that I had floating around.
I suppose I could have padded it up for sure, although that ecu felt like a damn brick and the box didn’t leave much wiggle room. I did not purchase a duplicate ecu. I’m not out to fool any dealerships, dealerships in the past have sold Hondata Flashes in the past for years. And if it voids the warranty well you pay to play, your adding power beyond the factory recommendations what did you expect.
Just my two cents on it.

@Hondata, will the people who took advantage of the early unlock be notified ahead of time a way to purchase the flashpro or given the opportunity to purchase it so they can get it and flash asap?

@Hondata I'm about to send out my ecu to be Jail broken. By don't send it with plastic cover, are you referring to the lid or plastic shell?

Just asking because my plastic shell doesn't seem easy to take apart, without breaking clips. How are you guys shipping the ECU out?
