I was fortunate enough to be selected for a Hondata Flash Pro beta test. I was encouraged by the Hondata engineers to give my completely unbiased and true impression of the tune.

My car has a thermal catback exhaust and prototype intake. I'm running the stock DP and stock intercooler.

My first reaction on the first drive is how smooth the power delivery came on. The torque increase is immediately noticeable and significant. You don't realize the how smooth the power is until you look at your speedometer. What once felt like 60 is now 80mph.

Prior to the tune, my boost (running 91 octane in CA) was all over the place. On some occasions i'd hit 17-18psi and others (if the conditions were favorable) I would hit 21-22. On the Hondata tune, I'm seeing a very consistent 24-26PSI.

This tune really shines in 3rd,4th, and 5th gear. the pull is amazing. Overtaking cars on the highway is a breeze. I don't know how I'd ever go back to stock. It's just amazing what the guys at Hondata have done with this tune.

I'm sure you're all having the same tough decision I had before being selected for this trial run. Ktuner or Hondata? Well I can't speak for Ktuner, but the team at Hondata has many many tricks up its sleeve. They are spending a ton of R&D to unleash the full potential of this platform. Their enthusiasm and passion for the FK8 is unlike anything I've seen before.

I wish I could spill some beans about the dyno numbers and the features in the works, but you'll just have to be patient for a couple more weeks. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the update, for those of us that couldn't get in on the testing. I'm dying to get my hands on FlashPro. Looking forward to the consistent boost and all the tuning options available.

You will love how the car is transformed. If you're on 93 octane, you're going to be amazed.

Great feedback, Thanks for sharing what you could. I can’t wait to purchase a hondata flashpro. So 3rd 4th & 5th are pretty aggressive? Do you happen to have any boost by gear set up for 1st & 2nd ? How’s the power delivery if you let’s say roll off the gas in 1st & stomp it?

Yes there is boost by gear. There would be absolutely no traction without it. 3rd-5th have great response. 3rd gear pulls are lots of fun. I can see the CTR pulling on many cars on the road.

I completely agree , I can see a tuned Type R disappointing a lot of cars. Could you possibly say what boost is limited too in 1st & 2nd ? And is this feature built into the reflash tunes ? Or was boost by gear something you had to go in & set up ? Sorry for many questions , I’m just living vicariously threw reviews hahaha.

Haha no it was already included on the map I was given. I would say 16-18 psi

Do yourself a favor, pick up an intercooler and DP while you’re at it. The results are amazing

I think I’ll do just that. What about the front pipe ? Is that all you have is just a Dp & Ic

I don’t have either one. I just saw the dyno from another beta tester. I’m jealous

The front pipe and exhaust help as well. But I would start with those items personally.

Ahhhh I gotcha , sounds like there where good gains from those parts. Whelp time to start shopping for a DP & IC. It’ll be cool once we kinda see the fuel capabilities of these cars. I’d imagine once hondata does the full release they will start talking about some of these things.

any chance you can show pics of the prototype intake...or details on it? I've been working on my own intake...it's a slow process, but just curious of what yours is

To expand further-
Flashing the engine with everything STOCK is going to be your absolute best bang-for-the-buck return on investment. Better than wheels/tires. I won't be surprised to start seeing 110 trap speeds on flashed-but-otherwise-stock CTR's. The 0-60 is better but the real shine is 40-100!
