Worked perfectly for me but of course I rooted it long time ago. I bought the pro version and use the auto app launch after booting. It works most of the time. If you install apkpure the app, it would download the right app version (at least for moboplayer because I have been wanting to update it).

I don't think it works on the latest headunit. Probably late 2017 models to current.

I have an rooted iPhone and tried to use activator to toggle the hotspot but it hasn't been working well. It works but not as well as android.
Where do you buy the pro?

Ok i finally got supersu installed through my gf’s Mac, but now I can’t get HondaHack installed. Every time I try to run install.sh, it comes back with « Error: Did not get package name! »

For me at least only the window version works. I think you can install it as a GUI. Just make sure it's cable connected and it's in device mode.

There are details in the app itself. Pay through paypal and he will send a key code.

you need to change back the Usb setting to host

  • Press the power, menu, and brightness button at once, and hold until you enter a new menu with two options.
  • Click the bottom option called Detail Information & Settings.
  • Now hold the MENU key to enter another menu.
  • Then Hold the HOME key to enter the last menu. You should first hear two consecutive beeps and then one final beep.
  • Lastly, change the role of USB Port from Host to Device.

I just did mine today and Android auto is working fine

@enishi , question about waze. I found the APK for it available online. Haven't rooted yet. How would you sign into waze and how does it pull in data where other drivers/police are?
Do you have to turn on a hotspot on your phone then connect your car to it?

I rarely use waze on the headunit because it's slow most of the time. I was able to log in though and get the info with hotspot on. Even though I configure my rooted iphone to open hotspot setting it's still a pain to turn on hotspot manually whereas android can do it automatically. I recommend just putting your phone with that magnetic attachment on the phone and air vent. Put it right on the headunit and use siri to launch waze. Press and hold the voice button on the steering wheel to launch siri. I used activator and assistant + to make my life much easier. You can set up Assistant + to launch the destination on waze just by saying one word. For example, I set up so if siri hear "home" it would launch waze to take me to home. To set up, you need the right url scheme for waze, let me know if you need it.

TLDR: Waze on HU is too slow. I use iphone and put on air vent. Use assistant + which enables siri to launch destination with only one word command.

For those who have successfully installed it:
  1. How can I install without laptop? The HU browser won't let me open the apk link listed on the XDA forum.
  2. All I want on the HU is Torque Pro. I purchased Torque Pro through Play Store a while back and would like to install that. Will this allow me to do so?
In summary all I want is to be able to run Torque Pro and run Android Auto from my phone. Thanks for the help.

If that's all you want then you can run Torque Pro (via a BT OBD2 dongle) on your phone and access Torque Pro through Android Auto with the OBD2AA program. No rooting required (of either phone or head unit). However, you do need to enable USB debugging and access your phone via ADB to install a patch to get everything working right. Details and links to purchase OBD2AA at https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/app-obd2-plugin-android-auto-torque-t3657805 There is also a free version but I didn't try it. Note that the hole that enables the program to work might be shuttered by Google in the future, but the developer has been working hard so I supported him.
