Hi All,

My wife and I ventured out last evening to meet our friends at a great restaurant and speakeasy in Bethlehem, PA. which is about an hour west of where we live. I wasn't that familiar with exactly where the restaurant was, so I put the address in the Civic's native navigation system [not Apple Carplay] and off we went.
I did have my IPhone 6 connected to the front USB port for charging purposes and was playing Pandora via Bluetooth, again not Carplay. On my front display by the tach, I usually have the gas mileage and fuel usage displayed and did so as well last night.
So, Pandora is playing via Bluetooth perfectly, and I'm receiving navigation voice prompts perfectly, all is good as I'm cruising westbound on interstate 78 on a beautiful evening in my Touring. However, whenever I received navigation voice prompts, my front fuel mileage usage would totally disappear and stay blank. I would have to push the function button on the steering wheel each time to get it back [the button that cycles through fuel usage, turbo meter, etc.].
So this was driving me crazy because I'm watching my fuel usage frequently as I'm trying to top my 42.5 MPG that I received recently. So we reached our destination, had a great dinner, then before we started leaving to go home, I did a classic reboot on the system and set the same parameters for the trip home [IPhone in front USB port, no Carplay, Pandora via Bluetooth, and set the native navigation to go home].
Long story short, it worked all the way home! I was now receiving my fuel usage meter and mileage even after the navigation voice prompts! However, I still couldn't beat my 42.5 MPG.
Has anyone else had this issue? I've already had my software update shortly after I picked up my Touring in January so I'm hoping this is just a hiccup! All else seems to be AOK and I'm still loving the car after 5 Accords!
Thanks for any input you may have into this issue!

I have a variety of odd infotainment / navigational display issues and they are resolved temporarily with a reboot. Just trying to be patient until Honda produces an update that will hopefully resolve the majority of these issues.

Incredibly, this is the only major issue that I've had with the infotainment system and software. It just came out of nowhere! I realize that anything could pop up at any time but that's why I'm so grateful for this forum!

It appears to be memory related over time. If I stick to the same basic set of features it is semi-reliable and predictable. If I vary things up and play around a lot it seems like it does't manage the memory well and everything goes sideways.

Yes, I agree. I find the same thing! As soon as I try something new with the system, it goes berserk!

I finally gave up and deleted HondaLink on my phone, moved Aha radio off my main screen (such potential, but alas...), and have Car Play and AndroidAuto turned off in the options menu (I wish I could turn off other things to free up even more memory). I just stream bluetooth and leave it on audio or maps (as maps are always running, no matter what) for the display. I hated to "give up" on features that I feel I paid good money for, but it does make life more peaceful. Instead of needing to reboot every other day, I can go several now.

So, the key to making the infotainment unit work? Use it for one source of entertainment, and no others. Don't use it like it's advertised, and don't use all the "features" promised by Honda. It just can't handle having too many things opened and closed... just like the crappy android tablet it is.

David, great idea! I think I should try that! The thing is, when I had my issue with the front display blanking out, I was streaming Pandora via Bluetooth and using the native navigation system!
