Tint is totally worth it. That's the first thing I do to every car I own within the first two weeks. Not many people realize this but it is also useful at night blocking out some of the headlight glare. As long as you don't go too dark (as in no less than 25% tint darkness) you will have zero issue seeing out at night.

If you have the time, learn how to tint and apply it yourself. You can even get precut tint on ebay relatively cheap.

Evening all,

So, I feel like I am the only one that does not have tinted windows on my car (2017 1.5 CVT). I guess I am curious if there are any other souls out there that would prefer not to tint them. There are situations that I do wish I had them, like if I want to look at someone without being seen. But generally speaking those situations are few and far between. I am more concerned that I would not be able to see good at night and it's more of a magnet for people to think you are doing something illicit inside. Sure the ladies are all like "zomg your car would look so much better with tints" but I'm too geeky to attract them anyway o_O

So, anyone else out there also not a fan of tints for one reason or another?

I think window tint is ghetto. Just my 2 cents. If you legit just want some shade, fine. But for looks, na.

If you live in a very dry or hot region I think its really necessary, where I live I wouldn't even want to touch the steering wheel after an hour or 2 parked under the sun. I got 35% Llumar Ceramic all around. I got them more on the practical side than for looks as the climate here can be extremely hot most of the year. After 5 months with them police haven't stopped me for anything or to check them

You're definitely in a small boat with that opinion.

Tint is more function than fashion in my opinion. I've got 35% ceramic all the way around and I think I'm going to get a 70% ceramic on the windshield after I replace it. The heat and UV blocking is amazing, the feeling of not being in a fishbowl at stoplights, and less glare from headlights is worth every penny.

Plus you can pick your nose without judgment. :p

I live in Texas so it's not even a question I tint every single car I'll ever own 1003.5% worth it.

I tinted mine to 20% front and rear. It's not legal to have front tints in NJ but cops do not care. Unless you get an asshole cop and he catches you for speeding, he could easily add on a window tint ticket. Sometimes it's hard to see at night, especially when parking but just lower your windows if it's not raining.

Depends on what you expect and what you want from the tint. For me it was UV protection and heat rejection. The added privacy is a nice bonus but wasn't the reason why I was getting tint. I went with 30% ceramic tint and it really works well. When its over 90+ degrees F and you have your car outside, with the tint, you can get into the car and the seats and the car interior won't be "burn your skin" hot. Also I found tint to be nice to help cut down on all that headlight glare from annoying suvs and trucks.

Oh i know it, and my 2010 insight does have 35%. But that's to keep me from being seen in it. :D

50% on windshield.
5% on fronts, backs, and rear.
Stock OEM tint on sunroof.

With all windows closed, and sunroof cover slid back, there is a illumination inside the car from above.
Open the sunroof, and leave the air conditioner on when you’re going for a nice ride out, and it’s cozy AF.
My exhaust drone, is pretty gentle when I drive casually, and my wife often falls asleep in the passenger seat, because it’s so damn nice.

Tint has the function of keeping your car cool, and cozy. At 5% levels it also acts as a privacy shield.

5% everywhere, and 50% on windshield reduces internal light just enough, that you can’t be seen through the windshield unless you move close to it.

So if a driver needs to see me, I simply need to motion my hand near the windshield, and tell them to go-ahead or whatever. They have been able to see, only my hand, just fine.

I wouldn’t recommend illegal tint for someone who lives out in the sticks though. The reasons it becomes illegal, becomes very obvious very quickly.
50% on windshield won’t bother you at all.
5% on fronts when you’re trying to make turns in total darkness…CAN be a problem.
Worst-case scenario? Turning on to a road in the pitch of night, and getting hit because someone was driving with their headlights off. And you had NO way of seeing them coming with no light, because your tint was too dark.

There are people that will drive with their lights off for whatever reason.

Most modern cars have automatic running lights, just from being in a drive gear, but don’t rely on that.
