My exhaust is now sold. Off to greddy I go I guess.

Thanks for the help guys. I wish I could have made this work because I can already feel I’m going to miss that tone. Such a bad ass sounding exhaust.
yep you are right about that it is a bad ass sounding exhaust and i love it!!!!

Just came up with an idea. If the afe is too loud and drony for some, how about "plugging" or welding a insertable plugg such as many other jdm exhaust have. Since it is only the center pipe that is straight with no muffler this should do the trick?
Should be very easy to try, anyone with this exhaust that could try? Put in a rag and film outside if there is any sound difference at idle an 1000-3500rpm?

If anyone is in western Washington state and has the afe exhaust I'd love to hear it in person. I'm used to some bass/sound from my car exhausts. I currently have a 2008 ISF with Joe-Z exhaust which is very delicious. Love that V8 sound. I also had before selling it to get my Type R a 2004 RSX Type-S with K24/K20 swap and custom 3" exhaust. The custom exhaust I liked at first but eventually it was hard to have conversations in the car and the rattles... oh the rattles. Small panel buzzes became very annoying rattles! I used my phone to get a decibel reading inside the car and it was near 80dB cruising on the streets. I appreciated the modest Type R exhaust at first but would like some nasty growl/grunt to it! But nothing too loud or drone.... sigh

Update for the drone:

Just replaced the AFE resonator with a bigger one from vibrant (ultra quiet resonator) and im very happy with the results. There is no more drone on acceleration (drone was between 3k and 4k rpm). There is still drone on the highway cruse (above 115 km/h) but it is significantly quieter. Oh, and the sound level and tone stay the same. :)

Can anyone with the exhaust get a sound decibel recording insight the car. While not totally scientific you can download an app on android or iOS and use your smartphone's microphone to get an idea of how loud. I have a Pixel phone and searched for "decibel" in the app store. I found the stock exhaust was around 60dB on cruising speeds.

Is this just the exhaust system or exhaust system with down pipe...down pipe/mid pipe? Looking to buy this exhaust, but don't know what I should get..

I’m not Travis but I can answe for him. That’s just the afe with no downpipe. Not sure about mid pipe but I’d bet that’s stock also.

The afe with a catless downpipe would be LOUD.

Thanks man.. So that is just the $1575 aFe exhaust by itself then? I like the way it sounds.

Yep. The exhaust alone sounds amazing. Best exhaust made for the CTR as far as tone is concerned.

Can you link the resonator you used?

could someone get a decibel sound reading inside the car? I'd love to get this exhaust but if a current owner could use their phone with a decibel app would help other prospective buyers a ton!
